Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.

Web pages would increase email between home and school
Web pages would encourage more home/school communication

Classroom Teacher Comments Positive feedback from parents Students are proud of the web site My own kids are proud of me Really helps in divorced families Papers get lost, but the web site is there Students and parents look at the site
together My child never brings anything home Puts the burden on the student or
parent
Barbara Barr 2004
Special Area Comments
Parents used web site for science fair information Participation up 20% Fewer parents at science fair meeting All information on line and no one called
Former students emailed the teachers Parents really used the online
information and thanked me for it!
Barbara Barr 2004
Student comments
I think my teacher is cool! Our web site is cool! My mom and I look at the homework every
night. It helps because my mom loses the papers. Other kids wish their teachers had web
sites. My mom is cool because she has a web
site.
Barbara Barr 2004
Parent comments
Until Mr. _ had his web site, I never even knew the school had a web site.
I want a list of the teachers with web sites so I can request my child’s teacher for next year.
We need the PTA information on the school web site.
I used it most when I emailed my ex husband and told him to look for our boys’ activities on the web site.

No computers?
Print copies of web pages and hang in your classroom.
Have your web site readily available on classroom computers (home page or shortcuts).
Provide parents/pupils lists of locations to use a computer.
Barbara Barr 2004
What Works
Introducing web site to the students in the lab or classroom
Making site available on classroom computers
Posting new information/pictures regularly and announcing it.
Including web address on newsletters and other notes home
Barbara Barr 2004
Effectiveness
Followed several teachers who had web sites but had done nothing to promote them and rarely added new material or pictures.
The web site that is not introduced to the students/families, is not promoted, is not interesting, does not have changing content or photos is equally effective to no web pages at all.
Barbara Barr 2004
Save time
Parent/pupil handbook or classroom information
Classroom management plan How to reach you Supply lists Spelling lists Units of study Syllabus Homework
