WHAT IS BARCELONA AND WHERE IS SITUATED

• Barcelona is a Spanish city and capital of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. With a population of 1,619,337 inhabitants in 20,105 is the second largest city in Spain.

• Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, about 120 km south of the Pyrenees mountain chain and the French border, on a plain bounded by the sea to the east,

• This is a political map of Spain

WHAT TO SEE AT BARCELONA

• La Sagrada Familia: Is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926).

• La Pedrera: Is a building designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built during the years 1905–1910, being considered officially completed in 1912.

• Casa Batlló: Is a building restored by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol, built in the year 1877 and remodelled in the years 1904–1906

• Parque Güell: Is a garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of el Carmel in the Gràcia district. It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914.

• El Arco Del Triunfo: is a monument located in the city of Barcelona, designed by architect Josep Vilaseca iCasanovas as the main entrance to the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888.

El Barrio Gótico: is the centre of the old city of Barcelona. It stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietan, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere.Despite several changes undergone in the 19th and early 20th century, many of the buildings date from Medieval times, some from as far back as the Roman settlement of Barcelona. Remains of the squared Roman Wall can be seen around Tapineria and Sots-Tinent Navarro to the north, Avinguda de la Catedral and Plaça Nova to the west and Carrer de la Palla to the south. El Call, the medieval Jewish quarter, is located within this area too.

WHERE TO EAT AT BARCELONA

I recommend you to eat at the restaurant siete puertas as they said is the oldest restaurant of Barcelona. It is situated at the middle of el paseo de Isabel II.

When I got there it was incredible because they were many living rooms, when the waiter said me that it was build many years ago I was like shock.

WHERE TO GO OUTSIDE BARCELONA?

• Montserrat: Is a mountain chain near Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range. 

Tibidabo: Is a mountain overlooking Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. At 512 meters it is the tallest mountain in the Sierra de Collserola. Rising sharply to the north-west, it affords spectacular views over the city and the surrounding coastline.

FESTIVALS OF BARCELONA

• Dia de Sant Jordi (23rd April)San Jordi (St George) is the patron saint of Barcelona) so this is a wonderful day to be in Barcelona when the Ramblas becomes a huge flower market and book stall. Men give women a rose reminiscent of St Valentines Day and women give men a book in tribute to Cervantes who died on this day in 1616 

• Festival de Sant Joan (23/24th June)In the weeks leading up to 23rd June there is a rise in the number of fireworks being let off around the city then on 23rd it's pyromaniac heaven as everyone heads down to the beach to celebrate the start of summer with an explosion of fireworks and bonfires burning on the beaches and all night revellry.

TRANSPORTATION

• Metro (Subway, Underground)  Barcelona has a clean, punctual, air-conditioned metro system that will take you to most of the major sites. The metro is especially useful in the summer when it can be quite hot to walk everywhere. For more information on the metro click here Metro system

• In Bicycle. Barcelona have many places where you can take a bicycle and live it in where you want.

PARKS

• There are many parks to go and walk with your family but I recommend you the park that is in front of the Sagrada Familia because there are many bancs to sit down and an artificial lake were you can watch the Sagrada Familia.

SHOPPING CENTERS

• In Barcelona there are many shopping centers of ``El Corte Ingles´´ but if you want to go to another shopping center there is one next to la torre Agbar that have many shops.

MY OPINION

• In my opinion Barcelona is a very good place to visit with your family because there are many monuments and the people is reallu nice.

My favourite monument was the sagrada Familia cathedral because when I saw the inside it was new for me because I don’t saw in all my life the modern style
