PROPOSED PLAN OF HOSPITAL IN

VICTORIA, TARLAC

Introduction

Hospital is a health care institution that

provides patient treatment by specialized staff andequipment. Hospitals provide outpatient andinpatient care or longer-term patient stays. Hospitalis the most complex building types.

Hospital is being deficient in many places of

the Philippines. People needs a medical care fortheir community to maintain a healthful life in theurban or rural areas and must cure their majorillness, and to serve the community during the timeof disaster and provide health education programs.

People from Victoria, Tarlac traveled an hour just to go to the nearest hospital.

Many adults are not able to go to the hospital

because of the distance in their community.

PROPOSED RESEARCH METHOD TO BE

USED 

The provincial hospital which is proposedto Victoria, Tarlac will serve the entirepopulation of town a sufficient health center

but also the neighboring town. Victoria is asecond class municipality in the province ofTarlac. Victoria is politically subdivided into

26 barangays and according to the census ithas a population of 57,085 people, a 30-bedthat will benefit them.

Introduction

A cancer develops when cells undergo anabnormal change and begin to grow andspread within the body. These abnormal cellsthen grow into tumors that can be benign or

malignant. Cancers can occur at any age.

Seventy-five percent of cancer patients in thePhilippines are 50 years old and above while3.2% belong to the pediatric age bracket (0

to 14 years). According to World Health Organization

Cancer still ranked third in the list ofleading causes of death in the country in2010.Meanwhile, listed below are the topcauses of cancer deaths in the country for2010:

Breast cancer

In 2010, breast cancer became the most common cancer in the country with 16percent of a total of 50,000 cases resulting in death. The disease has alsobecome the leading cause of cancer for Filipino women.

Lung cancer Is the leading cause of cancer for Filipino men. It was the leading cause ofcancer deaths in the country before it was replaced by breast cancer.Meanwhile, the Philippine Cancer Society expressed concern over the rise inlung cancer incidences among Filipino women. Experts advise the public to

refrain from cigarette smoking as nine out of ten smokers die from lung cancer.Non-smokers also become prone of lung cancer through second-hand and third-hand smoke.

Liver cancer Is the eight most common cancer in the world. However, it appears that thedisease is more common in the Philippines compared to the lesser number ofincidences in the United States.

Cervical cancer It is estimated that 12 Filipinas die of cervical cancer each day with 6,000 casesbeing diagnosed each year. This type of cancer is common among women fromage 30 to 55. Twenty-two in 100,000 women will get cervical cancer and only44% of this number will survive the disease.

Colon cancerOccurs when abnormal cells develop in the large intestine.

Thyroid cancer Thyroid cancer is more common in women than in men. In fact, it is the mostcommon cancer for women at age 15 to 24. Risk factors include family history,exposure to radiation, and not having enough iodine in the diet.

Rectal cancer Rectal cancer is caused by cancer cells that grow in the last 15 centimeters ofthe colon. These cancer cells become deadly once they travel through thebloodstream and into the other internal organs such as the liver.

Ovarian cancer 

The Department of Health website cites ovarian cancer as the 5th most commoncancer among women. It is considered a “silent killer” as it is usually detectedwhen the cancer cells have already spread to other organs such as the lungsand the liver

Prostate cancer Is the most common cancer for men. According to Enrique Ona of the National

Kidney and Transplant Institute, prostate cancer develops in 19.3 out of every100,000 Filipinos. The Department of Health has already recognized thisalarming number and declared June of every year as “Prostate CancerAwareness Month.” 

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphoid tissues such as thelymph nodes or the spleen. It is considered as the most common type of bloodcancer in the United States. Meanwhile, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type oflymphoma that commonly affects adults. Patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma

have a lower survival rate (63%) compared to patients with Hodgkin’s lymphoma(90%).
