MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

June 4, 2002

Dear BAAC Members,

Congratulations to the Barrington Area - you have nurtured and raised up a small not-for-profit arts council for 25 amazing years - 25 years of bringing high quality fine arts program and culture to our community! We hope that you enjoy our new multimedia retrospective CD showcasing BAAC.

This cultural legacy has special meaning to our many sponsors, volunteers, members and staff. Many people care deeply about both the arts and our community, and because so many care, the BAAC programs help make Barrington a very special and unique place to live and work! By its programs and zealous support of the arts, BAAC helps make the Barrington Area a desired, high quality of life destination.

From the vision of Flo Bash and so many of our visionary founders, few could have imagined we would look back on 25 years - and forward to the next 25! Few not-for-profit organizations can survive the first years, and many disband as the founders move on. But BAAC has been especially fortunate - a constantly renewing pool of great members, volunteers and staff to sustain the many arts programs and the now necessary daily fundraising. As we celebrate this special 25 year legacy, we send our thanks and gratitude to all who served BAAC, as sponsors, volunteers, the Friends of BAAC, our members, staff, directors and advisors. Thank you all!

And a final note of thanks and love to our longest serving and always loyal Executive Director, Sarah Bowers. Sarah has brought incredible energy, wisdom and class to a position that is both thankless and never seems to either begin or to end. We owe the "modern era" of BAAC to Sarah Bowers - she has been the leader, the visionary, the curator the roll up your sleeves worker. Sarah's love of the arts and of this community will always be our role model and good example. Sarah's resignation is bittersweet. She will be greatly missed and yet we are happy that Sarah can now freely move on to the next phase of her life with our love and best wishes. Thank you and Good Luck, our friend!

Thank you all for a great year and a great 25 years!!

William C. Graft, President

About the Barrington Area Arts Council (BAAC)...

"Your Community Arts Connection!"

. . . a not-for-profit corporation established to encourage the creation, appreciation and presentation of the arts. We offer artists the opportunity to share their work and talent through our galleries and programs educating the community on how art enhances their lives. For twenty-five years, BAAC has integrated the arts into the community, making them accessible to all ages and cultural interests.

An advocate and a catalyst for the arts, the Council annually brings over thirty-five programs to hundreds of children and adults of all ages. BAAC supports other community and area arts organizations in their endeavors. Financial support for not-for-profit arts-related programs and events is offered through ARTS WEEKS grants and ARTSBOOST, a BAAC and Illinois Arts Council arts development and community access program. BAAC is supported by membership, individual, corporate and foundation contributions, admissions to events and grants from the Illinois Arts Council (IAC), an agency of the State of Illinois.
