Philippines has 22 active volcanoes
• Total of 64 Digital seismic stations

The network is continuously being improved and expanded to provide much needed data for;
1) Rapid and accurate location of earthquake epicenters
2) Quick estimation of magnitude3) Rapid assessment of earthquake
tsunami potentials4) Quick assessment of their possible impact s
to communities for provision of timely warning and advisories
5) Generation of high resolution database for seismic hazard assessment and earthquake prediction research
6) International data exchange

Summary and the Road Ahead The Philippine seismic network have been
repeatedly expanded and improved both from funding from the Japanese government and the Philippine government.
The upgrading will provide for rapid and more accurate determination of Earthquake parameters
Provide for accurate near-real-time source process determination which will provide timely and accurate assessment of tsunami potential of strong earthquakes
Deployment of dense network of intensity meters will facilitate rapid and accurate assessment of earthquake impact
The establishment of ten real-time broadband seismic stations will facilitate international data exchange for tsunami early warning and regional scientific research
