The BAS in Information Systems program requires the prior completion of the AAS degree either at ABTU or another appropriately accredited institution. This program introduces students to IT concepts including hardware, business and productivity software, operating systems, networking, programming, and information security, and reinforces concepts and techniques through practical application. As student’s progress into advanced IT courses in database administration, systems architecture, and systems design, students can tailor the program to fit their educational and career needs by bringing concentration courses from associate and certificate programs into the elective category then selecting the networking concentration or other courses of interest to meet the program semester credit requirements above.

To better prepare our graduates for entering the work force in their chosen field, ABTU aligns select courses within each program, to industry certification exams. Upon completion of Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Systems, students are prepared to attempt the following certification exams offered by CompTIA® and Microsoft®:
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION
Upon successfully completing this program the graduate should qualify to fill entry-level positions in the IT department of small to large organizations, or an entry level position within a firm in the IT sector.
