    FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS

    Fundamental Movement Skills are movement

    patterns that involve different body parts such as

    the legs, arms, trunk and head, and include such

    skills as running, hopping, catching, throwing,striking and balancing.

    They are the foundation movements or precursor

    patterns to more specialized, complex skills used in

    play games, sports, dance, gymnastics, outdooreducation and physical recreation activities.

    perform the basic movement skills required to

    participate in physical activities:

    locomotion/travelling (e.g., galloping, running),

    manipulation (e.g., throwing, catching), and

    stability (e.g., jumping, landing);

    demonstrate the principles of movement (e.g.,

    in various directions, alone, with others, at

    various speeds) using locomotion/travelling,
