cannot be the handiwork of just one educator…it takes a village.


Desired Performance Goals• Define the concepts of teamwork and team motivation.• List the 10 qualities team members are looking for in

The Master Educator• Aligns with the overall mission and purpose of the

institution.• Adapts to needed change to ensure that institution’s

mission is achieved.• Communicates effectively to ensure collaboration

among all members of the institution’s team.


Teams Defined• Teams: A group of interdependent individuals who

have complementary skills and are committed to a shared meaningful purpose.


Teamwork• Work done by several associates with each doing a

part but all subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole.


Team Motivation• Industrial psychologists have determined that human

behavior is greatly driven or motivated by sustenance, safety, security, belonging, recognition, and a sense of growth and achievement.

• Building a team member’s self-esteem is a critical part of facilitating self-motivation for each team member.

The Team-Building Process• The concept of team building has evolved over the

past 50 years to include establishing harmony among employees and building relationships, as well as emphasis on accomplishing tasks and achieving goals and outcomes. There are 6 levels involved in team building.

Gaining the Team’s Buy-In• Use the transfer technique.• Explain advantages.• Identify penalties.• Establish ground rules.• Explain relevant issues in advance.
