Basic Watercolors: Learn Painting with Paper Fashion Katie Rodgers Lesson 1: Supplies & Color Mixing 1. Practice Color Mixing 2. Using the three primary colors (red, blue, and yellow), practice color mixing as you learn to control the watercolor (without the shoe drawings). Explore creating a rainbow of colors, while also experimenting by creating different color intensities by using more and less water. 3. If you'd like to create a color chart (like above image) using the colors on your palette, tape off a grid (much like a multiplication table or use the blank sheet below) based on how many colors you have available. Begin mixing the colors by multiplying them from the top and side. This can come in handy when you're trying to figure out how to mix the perfect color you need. It's not absolutely necessary, but a great lesson in color.

Basic Watercolors: Learn Painting with Paper Fashion Katie Rodgers  Lesson 1: Supplies & Color Mixing

1. Practice Color Mixing 2. Using the three primary colors (red, blue, and yellow), practice color mixing as you learn to control the

watercolor (without the shoe drawings).

Lesson 2: Painting Textures on Shoes

1. Illustrate a Shoe with Watercolor 2. Now that we know the very basics of watercolor, we can begin to apply these techniques to our paintings.

3. You can use any of the below shoes to practice on, or create your own shoe it's entirely up to you! This is all about experimenting with watercolor... so don't get too worried about your shoe sketch.

4. Try creating different materials on the shoe as I demonstrated in the video tutorials (or try something new!). Remember, watercolor is all about layering and water control.
