Founded in 2003, the latest production of Tenuta Angoris consists of wines coming from the most typical and traditional vines such as Tocai, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Ribolla Gialla as well as from international vines of great success.

They are produced from the 26 hectares belonging to the estates of Stabili della Rocca located in the Colli Orientali area and Ronco Antico located in Dolegna del Collio.

The selection called “Vos da Vigne”, meaning “voice from the vineyard” in the Friulian language, recalls the strong bind with the vineyard and the territory, and is composed of wines that are produced from the care taken in the vineyard, with low yield, late harvesting, and long maceration.

Well-structured, important and multi-coloured, but free from an excess of aromas, and capable of improving with age, these wines are the result of the significant research and innovation applied over the past few years by Tenuta Angoris.

Binomio is the brainchild of two old friends: Stefano Inama from Azienda Agricola Inama and Sabatino di Properzio from Fattoria La Valentina. The Binomio vineyard is located in San Valentino, Abruzzo Citeriore, and is a stunning plot of old vine Montepulciano planted exclusively with the low-yielding ‘Africa‘ clone of Montepulciano grapes. The unique combination of mountainous terroir, old vines, and a strict selection have allowed Binomio to produce a wine which displays the concentration and complexity for which Montepulciano is famous.

Binomio 2001 was hailed by Wine Spectator as the greatest Montepulciano made and awarded 95 point; vintage 2002 was hailed 91 point and vintage 2003 was hailed 92 point. Last year has seen Binomio 2005 voted best Montepulciano of the Year from the Italian magazine “Il Mio Vino”, 92 point from Robert Parker.

Deep, dense, intense ruby red colour, with a purple rim and obvious viscosity. Intense nose with ripe blackberry, cassis, wild strawberry and spices. Dry but with high alcohol, acidity and ripe tannins, pronounced fruit and great length.

The presence of fossils in the soil gives the wine a richness of mineral salts, so that the wine is lightly aromatic with attractive elements of freshly cut pear with a touch of minerality. The palate is balanced with elegant almost scented fruit enhanced with a dab of oak, and finishing with delicious crisp acidity.

It is a deep ruby red wine with shades of garnet red, the scent is intense and fruity particularly dark cherry with a gentle softness. The complex harmony of this wine gives warm and velvety sensations and leaves a spicy the dry finish.

Wine produced with grapes coming from Barolo and from Roero. Classic varietal style showing perfume and power. It can be aged for another four or five years.

Made from Cabernet Sauvignon matured in oak barriques for 18 months. Intense nose, the wine displays a preserved mix of berries and cherries, some herbaceous notes and delicate volatile notes. Firm black fruit on the palate, very prominent, quite racy tannins, roasted notes in the background, good persistence, very full-bodied very good finish.

The colour is garnet red with orange hints. The bouquet is ethereal and intense with floral notes of roses, violets over soft oak. The taste is dry and full-bodied with a long and harmonious finish.

Produced from only the highest quality, late harvest grapes. These rich, lush berries are fermented gently to produce a magnificently sweet dessert wine.



The Caprili estate spreads out over an area of 58 hectares in the southwest territory of the Municipality of Montalcino on the hillside which slopes down towards the Orcia and Ombrone rivers.

Of the total property, 15.5 hectares of the land is covered with vines. Sangiovese Grosso is cultivated on a total of 14.5ha for Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. and Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C. Trebbiano, Malvasia and Vermentino varieties are planted on 0.8 hectares of land for S. Antimo Bianco D.O.C., while Moscadello is grown on the remaining 0.7 hectares in order to produce wine of the same name, Moscadello di Montalcino D.O.C.

It must also be said that the Caprili estate plays an important role in the development and promotion of the Brunello di Montalcino, not only by producing wines of a superb quality, but also by collaborating with the Florence University towards the development and expansion of the appellation.

Luigi Arnulfo has been one of the first managers of Alba in the oenological field. In 1874 he bought the Bertoroni farmhouse, in the Costa di Bussia region, in Monforte d’Alba district. This estate included already the famous fields of “Campo dei Buoi” and “Campo del gatto”. Today they are precious cru, the heart of the Costa di Bussia concern: 15 hectares of vineyards that offer particular and complex wines.

The vineyards are still tended by hand, and the grapes are grown exclusively from the vines owned by the family in the Avellino province. The Di Meo family continues a program which strongly aims to save the most ancient vineyards, and to the rediscovery of the most valuable wines symbolizing the winemaking history and traditions of Irpina and Campania.

Future plans are strongly orientated towards maintaining the area’s great autochthonous varieties – including Aglianico, Fiano, Greco and Coda di Volpe – and the historic wines they produce. An ambitious programme that unites the making of quality wines with the safeguarding of Campania’s rich viticultural heritage.

At first sight the deep, intense ruby red colour of the wine is striking, with small violet arches. The bouquet suggests red fruit, rose petals and hints of wet spices. It is soft and warm to the palate with notes of red prune, cherry and blueberry which are harmoniously intertwined around a lively tannic theme. Being fruit of an exceptional harvest gives it a full, enveloping body, which finishes with liquorice and cloves. The fine performance is completed with an after-taste of black pepper and cranberry.

Behind every bar in Italy, you will find row upon row of bottles containing dozens of different aperitivi and digestivi. Lazzaroni is renowned for its highly prized Amaretto liqueurs which is the only one still produced according to a unique and traditional recipe including the infusion of the famous “Amaretto di Saronno” biscuits. The Lazzaroni range also includes Sambuca, Aperitivo and Alchermes. Lazzaroni bitter Aperitivo is an alcoholic liqueur, made from the infusion of high-quality aromatic plants, fruits and an array of herbs and roots, (including chinotto and cascarilla) in alcohol and water. Lazzaroni Alchermes is an excellent liqueur also dark red in colour also and is somewhat syrupy. It has a very aromatic flavour given by its ingredients: sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and vanilla plus various herbs. The red colour originally comes from kermes (thus its name). It is an extremely pleasant liqueur for every moment of the day. You can drink it on its own or serve it with ice. This liqueur is not only appreciated as a drink but also as an ingredient for the classic Italian dessert “Zuppa Inglese”.

The Nada Giuseppe winery and vineyards are based in Treiso, one of the four villages where Barbaresco can legally be made. The estate comprises 9 hectares of vines and includes land in the highly regarded crus of Casot and Marcarini, much of which was bought from the grandfather of Angelo Gaja (they have the framed change in title deeds on the wall!). Indeed, the Casot vineyards are adjacent to those that are used in Gaja’s Barbaresco. The Nada family has been estate bottling since 1964, two years before the original DOC was granted to Barbaresco and in 1968 they built a new winery in the basement cut into the hill underneath their house in Marcarini which has been updated over the years to keep up with innovations although the family has retained its traditional approach to winemaking throughout using large, old barrels for ageing, for example.

In 2008, Giuseppe and Nella Nada handed over the day-to-day running of the estate to their daughter Barbara and their young wine maker son, Enrico. The flagship wines are the Barbarescos from Casot and, in particular, the Riserva - the 2006 is an outstanding example - but there is also land in Barolo and some Langhe Nebbiolo is also made. The Barolo and Barbaresco wines are attractive in their youth but can age effortlessly over 25 years or more. Non-Nebbiolo wines are also made including a very smart Barbera d’Alba Superiore and Dolcetto described by some as their best ever tasted. Both varieties are age worthy if so desired.

San Silvestro represents the continuation of a project begun by Giovanni Sartirano, and carried forward through four generations. Over the years the firm - run today by cousins Paolo and Guido Sartirano - has gradually expanded beyond the local market, and now the production of “Cantine San Silvestro” is sold throughout Italy and abroad. Since 1988, the Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia estate in the area of Monforte d’Alba has also belonged to the Sartirano family, and in 2002 they also took over the Tenuta Ghercina estate, which includes vineyards in the villages of Barolo and Novello, where the headquarters of the company are now located.

The characteristics of varieties and lands belong to a mosaic that has to be reassembled again when it gets in touch with our senses. Firm, tart nose, prominent tobacco, light spicy oak, ripe, partly dried berries, dried herbs and flowers, some dark breadcrust. Concentrated and juicy on the palate, ripe, very slightly jammy fruit, tobacco, malted bread, oak, mature tannins. Creamy and full-bodied, also has an elegant acid bite, very persistent, has some depth, still quite young, hint of caramel and chocolate in the background, good grip, spicy, sweetish and juicy on a very good, long finish. A document dated September 30th 1880, and preserved in the local land register describes Serradenari as the place “where there is about five days’ worth of Barolo and Barbera.” This document contains detailed illustrations of the ancient vineyards planted in exactly the same south-south-westerly vineyards that produce the best Nebbiolo grapes today, used to produce the Serradenari Barolo.

This is a soft grappa with a clear and crystalline colour. A delicate palate and full of flowery sensations, with slight citric tones on the nose. Young and fragrant. Very delicate and refreshing, with soft fruity scents. Clean and persistent finish.

Clear and crystalline. Intense, very fine with the typical fragrance of the grape variety. The palate is nicely rounded, very soft with an elegant body. Harmonious with a long flavoured noble aftertaste.

Light straw yellow in colour derived from the barrel aging. The bouquet is embracing, intense and typical of Moscato grapes. On the palate it is soft and deep with a wide spectrum of fruity notes. It has a delicately almost sweet and persistent finish.

Most Grappas from Italy are made from a blend of grape varieties, but Sibona is unique as they specialise in outstanding quality grappa’s made with only a single grape variety like Grappa Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Arneis, Brachetto and Moscato. The distillation process consists of vapour production from fresh grapes soon after their arrival in the distillery, which allows the extraction of the unique flavour of the grapes’ full aroma. After distillation, grappa is stored in glass bottles for approx. six months before it is made available for sale. The flavour profile of Grappa depends on the grape variety used. Traditionally, Grappa is served chilled in small tulip glass and served after a meal, as the Italians believe that it aids digestion. The Sicilian winery “Valle dell’Acate” was born in 1981 from the initiative of two ancient families, living in the territory of Ragusa: Jacono Ricca and Ferreri dell’Anguilla, who have been cultivating their vineyards for ever and who lovingly care their wines to keep alive the memory of events and things passed down by previous generations. With the awareness of the historical value of their territory, they have pursued the objective of developing both the viticultural and oenological potentialities of the autochthonous species of grape wines. The new generations (incumbent winemaker Gaetana Jacono in particular) have been entrusted with the task of promoting the knowledge of their products in Italy and all over the world. The grapes, coming from their own vineyards, are vinted in the winery located in the old estate of Bidini. Not far from there, the original wine vaults containing the old oak and chestnut barrels, which are used only for refining wines made out of particularly rare grapes are located in the courtyard of the Jaconos’ house.

Valdisanti is a full bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc with spicy complexity imparted by its time in French oak. The youthful, rich dark fruit, berry and cassis aromas meld with notable French oak spice. On the palate it is full-bodied with deep but reserved fruit flavours framed by rich oak (16 months in French oak barriques, 70% new and 30% one year). The excellent balance of fruit intensity with fine tannins is indicative of great quality.
