Difficulty Accessing Casual Teachers We are currently experiencing a shortage of casual teachers to take our classes when teachers are sick or at training. I have been speaking with my colleagues at all other Bathurst schools, and they too are having a difficult time. This means that we have had to split classes across the school at times. This is obviously not ideal, but we look forward to Term 4 when new teachers graduate and become available. Kindergarten Enrolments We are now planning for classes in 2018 and our Kindergarten enrolments are looking great. Calendar of Events Principal’s Report

Tuesday, 11th September,

Dear Parents School Swimming Program K-4 Please be on the lookout very soon for a note about this excellent program which will run early in Term 4. This program is subsidised by the Department of Education Sports Unit and is very well priced to help families access this great opportunity. This is always one of the highlights of the year for our younger children, so get in early to avoid disappointment!

Help Plan With West There is still time for you to have your say in the future directions of our school. The community consultation process for the 2018-2020 Bathurst West PS School Plan is continuing - go to the link: http://bit.ly/2gvzf4Y . This link is for parent/carer access via computers, smart phones or other devices, and only takes a few minutes. Staff and kids will also be given the chance to participate in making our great school even better!

We have had some excellent CSU interns this year, so they are primed and ready to help us next term!

Kindergarten Enrolments We are now planning for classes in 2018 and our Kindergarten enrolments are looking great. If you, or someone you know, have a child starting Kindergarten at West in 2018, can I please ask you to drop into the office and fill out an enrolment form as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so. This will help us connect teachers to children during our Flying Start transition program and support us in allocating teachers to classes as soon as possible for next year.

Tips for tackling kids head lice

Use hair conditioner and a fine toothed lice comb. Apply conditioner to the hair and comb through with a wide-toothed comb to remove the tangles. Let the conditioner dry, then use a fine metal lice comb to remove the lice and pull the nits off the hair. The conditioner helps slow down the louse and makes it easier to comb out. Then rinse out

the conditioner. This does work.

Badge Awards Congratulations to - Lorin Nobes, Angus Porter, Riordan Kerschner, Amanda Smith
