Indo-Pak, he moved to India with his family. Due to adverse conditions, Sh. Sawhney had to leave everything in Pakistan and came to India. Due to their honest and hard work, they were kept on getting contract for supply of food and other things to the army.

Start with Battery Container Cover

In 1976, he started the work of lead oxide with the advice of a friend. The result of work was so well that S. Harbir Singh Sawhney founded the Harsha Indust r ies Corporation in the year 1981 in the name of his son Harashpal Singh Sawhney. Initially he maintained battery containers, covers and 2-volt battery containers for railway and motorcycle. Due to the fair image and better quality of goods, the then known battery Companies like Willard Storage Batteries, Nikko

Crompton Greaves, Nabco Batteries and Sparco Batter ies etc. have started taking containers and covers from Harsha Industr ies. Harsha Industries continued to build i ts business credentials across the country. The Company also received distributorship of products like Doon Cell Separator, Microtex Separator, Hi Tech Jaipur Tubular Bag etc.

For safe and bulk storage of imported chemicals and battery parts, Harsha Industries has its own Warehouse of about 14000 sq ft. in Delhi to send the goods on time to different Battery Parties. Due to best quality of products, Indian Battery manufacturers rely on Harsha Industries.

Business partners around the world faith on Harsha Industries as the company has safe storage of chemicals and battery parts. Company has an analysis certificate of every product and a technical data sheet of the material available. The company's aim is to fully satisfy its customers about the quality of its goods.

Presently, Harsha Industries i s l o o k e d a f t e r o n l y b y S h . H a r a s h p a l S i n g h S a w h n e y. Battery manufacturers and people associated with industry, across the country, have immense love and respect towards him due to his humility, quick response and gentle nature. Under Sawhney's supervision, Harsha Industries run the business all over the country of the chemical materials related to batteries. Harsha has maintained its clean credibility across the country wi th bet ter qual i ty and quicker delivery of goods.

94th Birthday of Shri Sathya Sai Baba

Nitin Gadkari paid tribute at Prasanthi Niliyam

On the auspicious occasion of the 94th Birthday of Lord Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Cabinet Minister

Shri Nitin Gadkari participated in a grand program organized at Prasanthi Niliyam, Puttaparthi on 23rd November, 2019. Shri Gadkari expressed his generosity to Shri Sathya Sai Baba among the Sathya Sai Devotees.

First of all, Shri Nitin Gadkari showed gratitude by going to the stage and addressing to devotees. He clearly stated that if he has come here with the inspiration of Shri Swami Ji. His sentiments are as follows:-

"It is my great priviledge that I have got an opportunity to participate in this program of 94th Birthday Celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. I do not have the right to guide you, but I believe that I have come here for the third time. When I came for the first time, I took the blessings of Shri Swami ji. The second time, when I was in Bengaluru, I came here with Shri Yedurappa ji at the time of Mahasamadhi of Swami ji. Then, I did last darshan of Swami ji."

"The biggest Ideas of His life were, the value-based education system and the value-based family system. Both ideas helped us to serve the society at all times. Inspired, whether it be in

the field of education or in the field of health. This precious and outstanding work was done by Swamiji itself. The happiest thing is that His work continues at the same speed. So I thank very much to all trustees."

"Taking inspiration from His Life Message, he has shown all of us a Path of Truth and a path of Service. In our society, the most imported things are Service and Education. He has given Directions and Guidance to all of us. He has also connected Knowledge and Science with that. I agree that Innovation Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Research & Skill must be in India. We Name it as a Knowledge and Conversion of Knowledge is the Future of the Country.

Knowledge is not perfect. The life value accompanies knowledge and the sense of service is equally important. Therefore, Swami ji has guided us throughout life. The result of this is that Swamiji's Devotees are still following his path in every corner of the world."

"We have a saying in Marathi, 'Thor mahatman ho ghee wet, charitaspancha pahapra, apanu tachha samabhavahey, haath saapade, be aware.' We get the same realisation from the life of Shri Sathya Sai Baba. And I feel that, Inspiration and Motivation are really most important things for all of you and our life.

"Whoever is born, his death is sure. No exception, it is a Law of Nature. But a person, what kind of time passed in his life or what he has done more in life this is the more important than that. Swamiji, showing the Path of Truth, devoted His entire life to the whole society, poors, those who are exploited, sufferers, and unhappy persons. He conveyed the Message of Peace in their lives and inspired them to live happy. How to live life easily, Swamiji showed the True Path.

"I am very happy that the Education is the biggest investment for us, to build the future of the country. Our future generation, getting good Education, may serve the society and country. I am very happy that Swamiji taught a True Path to the society through Educational Institutions. I think, wherever our Lord will be, He should be more happy because when a person survives, his work becomes good and after that there are many obstacles and problems occured. But it is the Blessing of Swami ji that even after Him, all these things, based on His thoughts, are going the same way."

"I am happy, that I meet many people very often, especially the poors. I spend 80% time in social work. I want to mention a terrible incident that happened in my life. In 2004, when I was the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra, I had a big accident. Despite a full security of Police, my car was accidentally hit a truck. The accident was quite unbearable. My wife and my son were also in the car. But despite such a terrible accident, we all survived. Many people asked me how this was possible? Then, I told them,

with the inspiration of Shri Swamiji, I have been continuing social work for 15 years for the welfare of poors, perhaps,

it is not a miracle but to His grace, saved all. With the inspiration of Swamiji, I performed 8 to 9 thousand heart operations free of cost and distributed the equipments to handicapped people. I kept on doing this work religiously. At that time, I told those people that with the blessings of these people I and my family lives were saved."

It is said that God wil l give remuneration according to our actions. Doing good deeds, Inspiration and

Motivation do not come only from speeches or thoughts, but they come from living the practical life themselves. Only then, we get immense happiness. Swamiji has given a directions and guidances us. I think, for this, the whole world will be benefitted. Ideas like humanity should not be limited to speech. Character and behavior are very important for human life. I believe that these thoughts of Swamiji must have strengthened your vision of life. I have come here today only to bless from Swamiji to do good work and social service. I do not need blessings to get a good position in Ministry. I only want to follow the Path which Swamiji has shown to us. I pray to Swamiji's feet to give me bless to serve the poors, victims and more & more work should be done by my hand."

F ina l l y, Sh . N i t i n Gadga r i repeated, "I once again salute His memory. We also believe that the Soul is immortal, so even today Swamiji is with us and is listening to us. His Divine Vision and His blessings will be received to you and me a lso to cont inue to do good work . Wi th such des i re , I once again salute Him at His feet. You have given me this good upportunity to seek Blessings here today, so I also thank you from the heart."

All work is God's:He inspires, He helps,

He executes, He enjoys, He is pleased, He reaps, He sowed.

Bad effect on life of labourers

Labourers suffered financial crisis who depend on Lead Acid battery industries for their livelihood.

Battery, the need of poors

Small Battery industry meets the demands of low income groups. With the help of small and light LED light powered by small batteries poor hawkers, weekly market vendors, street vendors are able to do business and earn their livelihood. In villages people need batteries for lighting and mobile charging.

Children StudiesPeople living in small cities and

villages used Led Batteries for Inverter and lightening. Children study with the help of these batteries.

E-Rickshaw BatteriesE-Rickshaw is used by poor and

medium class people for commuting.Battery Federation warns the

Government that if action was not taken between the difference of Big and Small

Industries and lowering of GST rate, Small Battery Industries would shut down having no open in hand.

For survival of MSME registered units, Federation demanded 'instead of normal rate, lowering of one step GST rates and to exempt the GST for units having turn over less than 25 crore rupees.'

On Scrape Battery must be 5% GST instead of

18% There should be 5% GST instead

of 18% on scrape Battery. Need of simplifying Rules for getting Licence for Import of Scrap of Battery. There should be a clause for filing GST returns after three months instead of one month for MSME units. Responsiblity of payments should be of sellers and not of customers.

Battery gives employment to Small Industries. If it gets promotion from Government, it will be equipped with modern technologies and then there would be no need of import of any type of battery from outside.

This industry is capable of inviting foreign funds by exporting Batteries made in India.

There should be provision of less GST Rates in the Budget 2020-2021 by the Government, then only small battery industries can survive.

head Sh. Rahul Valvalkar informed that India Government decided to scrap the vehicles more than 15 years old in a planned manner.

According to Bharat Stage VI Regulation all diesel vehicles have to reduce NOx level to 70% and petrol

driven cars to 45% upto April, 2020. He said, 'we can achieve the target of electricity driven all types of vehicles upto 2035.'

Sh. Valvalkar said that Government decided to promote 50 Gigawatt energy through advanced chemistry cell but it is not possible for Lead Battery because they are already being manufactured in India. Govt. has decided to promote those batteries which are being imported from other countries. Govt. intention is to make India a global hub in research and development and give solution to all problems.

Promotion to Lithium Battery

The spokes person of Indiantional Lead Zinc Developmemnt Association, in the seminar, expressed that India being a second largest market for automobile market should encourage the use of Lithium-ion battery in all vehicles. Government should fulfill FAME Regulat ions and provide Lithium-ion batteries to all customers at concessional rates.

BATTERY DIRECTORY Serving Indian Small Scale Battery Industry Since 1985

The Government of India has implemented GST, in the name of single Tax across the country

since 1st July, 2017. Since then, whether a small or a big businessman is in confusion about his business. There is a slowdown in business, as well as the ready goods are not able to be sold properly. Even, there is no transparent coordination between the Govt. Administration and the businessmen.

More Tax, less ProfitOne of our Readers (Battery

shopkeeper) from Bulandshahar (UP) says that earlier there was 14% Tax, the business was better. Since the GST has been implemented, buyers are not in the market due to heavy burden of 28% Tax. Tax has to be paid more and margin is less. Apart from this, there are many Administrative obstacles.

Fortnightly Battery Directory

Many of our Customers have complained that they do not get the supplementary Battery Directory on time, so they are deprived of key information of the Battery Market.

Readers suggested that we should print more information regarding E-rickshaws and its detailed maintenance so that vehicle may be used for longer time.

GST ended Fraud

One of our readers from the Chhapar of Yamuna Nagar (Har.) praised the Modi Government, saying that earlier the Battery industry used to have more sale without bills, the implementation of GST has ended such fraud. The common man benefited more from the GST. From our Tax, the network of roads, electricity, water line, toilets, street lights and cleanliness is

More Problems with 28% GST being done in the country. All these are being done honestly by the tax, we are paying the government as GST. Not only this, Economic downturn came before the ban of Demonetisation but it is fine now.

Business of Lithium

Battery Many Big

Companies are coming into the Lithium Battery business. Due to the cooperation by the government in the lithium battery sector, only business of Lithium batteries is expected to have a good and better future ahead.

Trouble Filling the TaxThe government has created a

problem by imposing 28% GST on batteries, that is, equality in Small battery Industries and Big battery Industries in terms of Tax. One of our readers of Sambhal District of Uttar Pradesh says that in the context of buying raw materials or selling products, large industry Groups and small industries have done the same in terms of Tax which is causing trouble. Local companies cannot compete with the products of large companies because their Brand or Name is sold. When the customer buys our battery with GST, the price of the battery becomes the same cost of the battery of the large Group Company, so the customer will prefer to buy the battery of the Company and not the local. Therefore, the market of local batteries is slowly ending. Earlier, the shopkeepers used to sell their goods without bills, but now it is not possible because the E-Way bill is entered

before the goods are loaded in the truck. Now, either Small Manufacturers sell branded goods or become a Company like Big Group.

Rate increased, Production

SlowOur reader,

from Belgaum (Karnataka), has expressed his displeasure for imposing 28% GST on all small

and big batteries due to the severe slowdown in the Battery Industry. He said that the condition of the Battery Industry is going very bad because of GST. Due to increase in rates, the production of batteries is reduced. Some battery manufacturers are working with a proper bill and some others without a bill. No doubt, those who are working without bills, have to face a lot of trouble later on. Apart from this, the battery goods is sent through transport, have to cross many tolls (toll tax) because of the long distance. By adding all the expenses, the cost of battery becomes more expensive than before, which makes it difficult to sell.

Earlier 200, but now only 60 Batteries sold

Earlier, the business of batteries became on credit from both sides but since GST has been implemented, all the business have been done in Number One. Earlier we used to sell 200/250 batteries in a month, but now even to sell 60/75 batteries is more difficult. The rate of GST should be less than 28%, only then the battery

More Problems with 28% GST More Problems with 28% GSTindustries can servive, otherwise they will search other work, leaving this battery business. This trouble has started in the industry since 2016 when demonetised. Since then, we are

taking battery goods in cash and selling batteries on credit in the market due to more competition. A lot of money has been stuck in the market. He seriously said that he has been doing this battery business for a long time, and then they could not even do other job anywhere. Therefore, in this period, they were very upset to continue this battery business.

No problem from GST but more Competition

Mr. Satendra Gupta of AXN Inverter & Battery, Modinagar (U.P.) denies any bad influence in the battery business due to the implementation of GST by the government. He says that GST does not matter in the battery industry, but since many battery industries have come into the market, competition has become very high and the market condition has become worse. A lot of shops have opened from big cities to villages. Therefore, in the competition of selling more and more battery goods, they borrow the goods at a lower cost and without bills. But we are big suppliers, so

we cannot trade and sell goods without bills. We do all the work in Number One. Small shopkeepers take the battery goods in installments. If they borrow the battery, we make many telephones for

payment. They do not make the payment but leave the business and run away.

Earl ier there were few companies like Exide, Luminous etc. But today, you will find many battery companies. The percentage of big companies is also low but small companies compete in every way to sell more and more goods in competition. He denied that the market was down, but said that coming more

companies and its Distributors/Dealers in market, the selling of batteries have reduced.

Customer buys without bill

One of our readers, regarding the deteriorating synergy in the battery market from the GST and more Competition, says that the earlier Tax on batteries was 14% and on inverters were 5% but now 18% and 28%. Earlier, if a trader earned 100 rupees on a battery, he had to pay 14 rupees as Tax but now he has to pay 28 rupees. Now the Competition is more. The factory owners have benefitted and the shopkeepers are in loss because we give the battery rates to customer by adding GST. Therefore, the battery becomes expensive. The customer wants it cheap, so he buys it from other places at cheap prices without any bill.

He says that recession is everywhere, but you do more hard work, the more you will surely achieve. With the implementation of GST in the Country, everyone will now have to do their work in Number One, so the laws (Rules) of the Government should be followed.

Lithium-Ion Batteries Fail in Market

India is the bigest automobile market in the World and so many big Companies, from worldwide, are

willing to enter here. If they enter in India, many types of batteries would also be consumed. But Lithium-ion batteries cannot be success for in India due to many problems in it. There are many question marks about the long-term maintenance of the batteries. When there are a large number of vehicles, the battery consumption will be very high accordingly. For this, battery manufacturers should manufacture as many batteries as possible. Manufacturers must also use latest technology in battery manufacturing to make the battery last longer. But this is not happening in lead acid batteries. In addition to, Lithium-ion batteries are also available in the market. The market for lead acid batteries is flourishing, while the Lithium-ion batteries are failed.

India is the largest market

When we globally think, lithium-ion is widely used for storing energy

from modern electronic devices, long-distance electric cars and renewable sources. We have also written in our Hindi issue of last month that three Scientists have received the Nobel Prize for making lithium-ion batteries, but even today there remains a complete confusion about the shortcomings in lithium-ion batteries. If these shortcomings are cleared, India will be the largest battery market for lithium batteries in the world.

Scientists of Lithium battery

Amer ican-Br i t i sh Laureate Stanley Wittingum, Japan's Akira Yosino and American scientist John V. Goodenough, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year, using graphics or petroleum coke as Anode materials that were in their bulk during electrolysis Inter-related lithium-ions have easily shocked the world by using Cobalt Oxide Cathodes. These three scientists have claimed to make lithium-ion batteries by inventing state-of-the-art technology. But trio-Scientists leaved behind many shortcomings.

Government of India has entered into a detailed agreement to manufacture Lithium batteries in

collaboration with the Government of Japan in which Japan is setting up a large plant in Gujarat by investing around 690 million dollars. Under this, Japan's Suzuki

Motors will have a large plant for the production of Lithium-ion batteries equipped with state-of-the-art

technology at a cost of 50%, Tosiba 40% and Denso 10%.

Lithium-ion Batteries Fail in Market

Government's positive initiative

The Government of India has taken positive initiatives on its part to make lithium batteries in the country successful and to overcome the inherent drawbacks. Under this, the Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Japan, has entered into a detailed agreement in October for manufacturing lithium batteries in Gujarat, in which Japan is investing more money for a huge Plant by investing around $ 690 million. Under this, Suzuki Motors of Japan is moving towards the goal of a large plant for production of state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries at Hansalpur in Ahmedabad District at a cost of 50%, Toshiba 40% and Denso 10% ratio.

Lithium battery failureThe problem of bringing these

batteries from the laboratory to the market has been their high failure rate. The major issue is what is known as low Coulombic efficiency, meaning they undergo a limited number of (charge-discharge) cycles before they

stop working. That is because as the battery goes through the cycles, its stores of active lithium and electrolyte get depleted. This is because of the highly reactive nature of lithium metal. That is why, Scientists are still far from understanding the original idea of Laureate Stanley Wittingham because of its greater ability to use lithium energy than today's lithium-ion batteries. If accepted, they can hold up to light and long lasting lithium batteries. This increases the likelihood of electric cars doubling their range.

Other reasons for failureA Research Team, led by Scientists

at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) has identified the root causes of lithium-ion battery failure. According to them, bits of lithium metal deposits break off the surface of the Anode during discharging and are trapped as Dead or Inactive lithium that cannot reach the battery.

Bad effect on the marketLithium metal batteries fail because

of a layer known as Solid Electrolyte Interface (SEI) between lithium-ion and

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongwith Vijay Rupani (CM-Gujrat) at the time of huge Plant to build a Lithium-ion battery at Gujrat.

Lithium-ion Batteries Fail in Market

connection with the Anode. This creates inert lithium that can no longer be cycled through the battery. The trapped lithium could be largely responsible for reducing the cell's Coulombic Efficiency. The current Team made the discovery for the first time in battery research by developing a technique to measure the amount of inert (lithium) species at the Anode and study their micro and nanostructures. As far as, the grip of lithium batteries in the Indian markets is concerned, it will take time to clear the problems facing it, as lithium material is much more expensive than Lead Acid Batteries and it is lacking in India. Therefore, lithium will have to be imported from other countries while the market for Lead Acid Batteries is the largest in India.

electrolyte, its market is continuously deteriorating. The trapped lithium is largely responsible for lowering the Coulombic efficiency of the cell. Although researchers developed a number of methods to control and stabilize the SEI layer but the problem remained same by which affecting its market.

Lithium deposition in SEI layer, cause of failureA Nanotechnology professor, Y

Shirley Meng, at UCRD, said, "Cells fail because a lot of inert lithium is being produced in these batteries. Therefore, Ignoring another important aspect is the reason for the failure.” Researchers found that as lithium accumulated in the SEI layer, they missed their electrical

With Lithium Battery

Bajaj’s Electric Chetak Scooter

Bajaj Auto Ltd. re-entered the scooter market after a decade with an electric version of the

iconic Chetak. The company unveiled the lithium-ion battery-powered scooter 'Hamara Bajaj'.

The new Chetak features a horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLs, feather-touch activated electronic switches and sequential scrolling LED blinkers. A large digital console intuitively displays vehicle information with clarity. Bajaj Auto claims fine craftsmanship is visible in the smallest of details – from handlebar grips, levers and mirrors, to the softly opening of the glove box and the damped seat closure mechanism.

IP67-rated high-tech lithium-ion battery

At the heart of the new Chetak is an IP67-rated high-tech lithium-ion battery with NCA cells, which can be charged using a standard household 5-15 amp electrical outlet. The on-board Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS) controls charge and discharge seamlessly. Additionally, an elegant home-charging station is available at a nominal cost.

Driving rangeThe Chetak offers 2 ride modes

(Eco, Sport) and a reverse assist mode to ensure that all the demands of a rider are satisfied. In Eco Mode, the e-scooter has a range of 95 km and 85km in Sport Mode. Regenerative braking via an intelligent braking system that converts braking heat into kinetic

energy helps maximise its range. The Chetak offers a fully-connected

riding experience by virtue of being embedded with mobility solutions like data communication, security and user authentication that will enable customers to have a seamless ownership and riding experience. The Chetak mobile app gives the rider a comprehensive overview of all aspects of his / her vehicle and its ride history.

Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), a popular tourist attraction, is renowned for its picturesque vistas. Its Kashmir

region houses stunning gardens & lakes while the Jammu region is renowned for its temples. At the beginning of 2019, the total installed power capacity in the state was 3393.74 MW. However, solar power has very less contribution in this region despite J&K being the second largest state in terms of having the potential for solar power generation in the country.

The Ladakh region in J&K is colloquially known as the ‘solar capital’ of India as the city receives solar radiations in its m o s t p r i s t i n e condition. H o w e v e r , a s of now, when it comes to solar power generation, the only solar plant in the state is set up in the Ka t ra ra i lway station and has a g e n e r a t i o n capacity of 1 MW. So, the government has laid down several policies to support the installation of rooftop solar systems in the state. Here’s an account of the guidelines:

Improvement in Technology in Small

Industries is necessary

In the period of modern technology, if small businessmen do not change their old technology according to

the time, they and their business will be down. The whole world is showing enthusiasm for its computers, laptops, machines, mobiles or other electronic equipment equipped with modern technology. Therefore, the market for old technology based devices is bound to end, so new technology in hardware and software in IT sector have to work with. However, the M i n i s t r y o f Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) of the Government of India is also showing seriousness regarding modern technology.

S m a l l a n d m e d i u m - s c a l e businessmen who have their own personal computers (PCs) or are engaged in the same business, must adopt modern technology, otherwise repairing old computers repeatedly will only be a waste of time and money. According to the survey of Microsoft

company, it is better to convert four year old PCs to state-of-the-art technology because their repair takes almost four times, the time i.e. 132 hours are wasted and the possibility of Cyber hacks also remains constant. There are some countries equipped with modern technology in the world where their technology becomes old and the same

technology is new in India. If India has to go with those countries, t h e n t h e y have to adopt their modern technology.

T h e r e is a need to adopt modern technology i n o f f i c e s , industries,

homes, shops or any place where persona l computers a re used. For th is, the MSME Ministry of Government of India is working at a fast with other software and hardware companies. According to a senior ministry official, for the last few days, technology companies such as WhatsApp, Dell, Intel, HP, Vodafone Idea etc. have tied up with the MSME ministry.

Tata Motors's EV remove India's Pollution Problems

India's renowned automobile Company,Tata Motors feels that electric vehicles are the

solution to the country's pollution problems. India fast becoming the third largest motor vehicle market in the world, however, it is also home to 15 of the most polluted cities across the globe.

Studies show that only 19 of every 1,000 people own a car in the country. While this is a very low number, India has a massive problem of congestion, and also reports a fatal road accident every four seconds.

The Vice President of Global Designs at Tata Motors, Mr Pratap Bose feels that designing will play a major role to tackle pollution and safety problems that are rampant in the country. He gave the statement at the function held at the Hyderabad Design Week.

Tata Motors is currently using lighter materials, incorporating aerodynamics, and creating designs that support recycling. The company is also trying to build green fabrics and green power delivery systems across their electric vehicle portfolio.

Tata Motors has recently launched the Tigor EV variant, and has bagged a contract for 300 electric vehicles in Ahmedabad. The company say that green vehicles attract higher prices but they ensure zero emissions, cut down on maintenance costs, and do not add more pollution.

The cheapest electric vehicle, globally, costs roughly Rs. 21 lakh. The

company feels that in comparison, the products they offer are affordable and have long term benefits. The company feels that the major expenses with owning an electric vehicle is the costs involved to replace tyres and brakes.

Stressing that the Indian market has tremendous potential for EVs, Tata Motors is striving to find a balance between the right range and the right price. They feel that the only area of concern at the moment is the limited availability of professional designers.

On the other hand, some expert says that electric vehicles can remove or less this pollution problems but this is difficult. The major problem here is the most people, who own vehicles, are not willing to move to electric mobility, and rightly so. While the cost benefits may pan out over a few years, there is absolutely no infrastructure available like power, more charging stations and time saving.
