MESSENGER

At the start of each school year, information from student registration forms is input into the student information database.

SchoolMessenger, the sys-tem the district uses to send out phone notifica-tion to parents, receives updated information from this database once each day.

It is very important that parents keep their contact information current.

Be sure to let your school office know if you have a new address, email or phone number.

The parent or guardian marked as the primary contact in the student in-formation system will re-ceive automated commu-nication.

Messages will also be sent to the student’s home phone number contained in the database, if different from the primary contact phone number.

Dear Battle Creek Families, Wow! What a crazy couple of weeks it has been. We hope that this newsletter finds you and your family healthy and safe. We realize that this is a stressful time for many people and want to help anyway we can to ease some stress. The Battle Creek staff are thinking of your students and family often and your students are greatly missed. If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to contact us. This edition of the Bear Tracker may be our most important yet since it will provide you with guidance and support as you learn to navigate Teaching & Learning at home with your student(s). Distance Learning will officially begin next Monday, April 13th. Each of our classroom teachers has made attempts to contact each student and their family, which we will continue to do if we have not yet connected. This gives us the opportunity to check in with your family, share the plan for Distance Learning, and as-sist you in becoming familiar with the digital platform your students’ teachers will be using (or an alternative). If we haven’t yet connected with you, please feel free to call or email your child’s teacher. There are also resources available on the district website. Additionally, we have been sharing information on our Facebook and Instagram pages so please follow us if you aren’t already. On our Facebook page, we are also posting videos of staff reading books aloud each week night, Monday Announcements each Monday morning, and our Virtual Assembly last Friday. This coming Friday, we are planning a Bear Parade through your neighborhoods beginning at 3:00 pm so watch Facebook and your email for more information, including the route we will follow. I also want to remind families that we are currently registering kindergarteners for next year. If you know anyone that has a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 10

th, please have them register online as soon as possible.

How to Pre-register your students:

1. Visit the Salem Keizer Public School Website: https://salkeiz.k12.or.us/ 2. Select the Parent tab from the main page 3. Scroll down the page until you find Enrollment and Registration and select 4. Review the page and select Register Online Now 5. If you are an existing parent, select one of the two options for parents of Sa-lem Keizer Students. If you are a new family to Salem Keizer Schools, please select I do NOT have a ParentVUE account found further down the page. 6. Once you have signed into ParentVUE, in the right upper hand corner, select the Online Registration tab. 7. In this new window, you should see existing Salem Keizer students linked to you. If one of your students does not appear and they are already attending school STOP. Please do not add them as a new student. Notify us and we will link the student to you so that you can continue. 8. Please select the year 2020-21 in the drop down menu for the registration school year.
