BAULKHAM HILLS TOWN CENTRE UPGRADE PROJECT UPDATE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE BAULKHAM HILLS TOWN CENTRE? A streetscape upgrade of the Baulkham Hills Town Centre will commence in mid-November 2015. WHY IS WORK OCCURRING? The improvements will provide greater accessibility and amenity and contribute to the attractiveness of the Town Centre. WHAT WORK WILL BE DONE? Council’s contractor Landscape Solutions will carry out the installation of new footpaths, seating, landscaping, signage and banner poles within the Town Centre. WHERE WILL THIS WORK OCCUR? The streetscape upgrades of stage one will occur in two phases. These areas will be indicated on the maps provided on each Newsletter update. The first phase of work is scheduled to be carried out from Wednesday, 11 November 2015 at the corner of Windsor and Seven Hills Road near the Bull ‘n Bush. Once this is complete the second phase of work will occur on the other side of the road, at the corner of Windsor and Old Northern Road up to Olive Street. WILL I BE ABLE TO GO TO THE LOCAL SHOPS AND BUSINESSES? During the improvement program the shops and retail outlets in this vicinity will continue to trade. Temporary changes to pedestrian and vehicular access will be indicated onsite via signage, however pedestrians will be able to access pathways at all times. WHEN WILL MOST OF THE WORK OCCUR? Pathway upgrades are programmed for night time works, between 7pm and 6am. Some works not impacting upon traffic movements will be undertaken during normal working hours. WHILE THE UPGRADE IS UNDERWAY: • There will be temporary changes to pedestrian and vehicular access in and around the town centre. • Pedestrians and road users travelling through the area should take extra care. • Minor travel delays may occur. • There will be no kerbside parking at the site while works are underway. • Increased noise will result from machinery movements and deliveries. These will occur outside working hours to comply with police and/or RMS regulations • Emergency service vehicles and buses will still be able to access the Town Centre • Public parking will be unavailable at Central Place carpark from 11 November until the completion of the project. PUBLIC TRANSPORT • Buses will still be able to access the Town Centre. • As the work progresses, a temporary relocation of the Old Northern Rd bus stop slightly further down from the current location may be required. • Any temporary changes will be advised in advance via signage at the stop, and advertised through the newsletter and media updates. CONTRACTOR COMPOUND A works/storage compound will be established at Central Place carpark, this means that public parking in this location will be unavailable from 11 November until the completion of the project.
