PROFILE OF SPEAKERSMR TIM BRIGGS is a Chartered Fellow of IOSH and is currently employed by Leeds Metropolitan University as the course leader of the BSc Honours Degree in Safety, Health and Environment Management. He is a former chair of the IOSH Yorkshire Branch, and has been instrumental in driving forward a scheme of mentoring among the health and safety profession. He has a varied range of work experiences including public transport, health, education and defence. He is a graduate of Huddersfield and Leeds Metropolitan University. He was awarded the IOSH Presidents Distinguished Service Award in 2010.

MR STEVE YEUNG is the Head of Department for Engineering, WorelyParsons Ltd. Steve has over 25 years of experience in the oil-&-gas, mining and power generation industries, and had worked as civil & structural design engineer, project engineer, quality manager, operations manager, head of project management and most recently head of department for Engineering. Steve commenced his career in Australia in the offshore oil-&-gas industry and then moved to the mining industry at a later stage. In 1999 he relocated to Singapore, and has successfully executed the design of a number of power plant, oil-&-gas and infrastructure projects.

PROF PETER R DAVIS is a Chair of Construction, University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Prof Davis joined UON in January 2014 as professor of construction management. In 2014 he was awarded $15k in research grant funding and to date in 2015 he has secured over $120k in research grant funding and published four journal articles and three conference papers. Immediately prior to joining UON, Prof Davis held a 5 year appointment as Head of School Built Environment, Curtin University. Prof Davis has over 20 years’ experience in project delivery as a construct project manager together with 21 years academic experience teaching and researching in the discipline of construction with a focus on project delivery and relational interaction.

MR KEITH CHEW is currently the Project Manager of Tiong Seng Contractors managing HDB’s Waterway Terraces 2 at Punggol West. He also holds the position of Planning Manager for the Central Planning Department leading 3 numbers of concurrent projects viz. Eco Sanctuary at Chestnut Ave, JTC Space at Tuas and HP Industrial and Office Development at Depot Road. He is a Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Structural Engineers U.K, Institution of Civil Engineers U.K, and Institution of Engineers Ireland. He has more than 14 years of experience of working in various countries and cultures. Most recently, his designs and construction methodology for “Ready-Fly-Work” Platform and “Prop-less Nest Construction” won the Gold and Silver Medals for WSH Innovation Awards 2015.

MR STEPHEN POLLOCK is a chartered safety professional with over twenty five years’ international experience in the fields of railway environment construction and operations. Highlights of his career include advisor for the UK Rail Safety & Standard Board, Head of health & safety during the construction and commissioning of Dubai Metro, Chief Safety Engineer for Bangalore Metro before returning to the Middle East to develop the safety management system for Qatar Rail. Prior to embarking on his current role with MTR Hong Kong, Stephen was Safety Management Consultant for the Israeli Transport Ministry developing tender documentation and a safety management system for the Tel Aviv Metro.

DR GAO SHANG is a Lecturer in Construction Management at the University of Newcastle (UoN), Singapore Campus. He teaches various subjects for the Construction Management (Building) Programme jointly offered by UoN and the Building & Construction Authority (BCA), Singapore. His research interests are in the area of lean construction, the Toyota Way, and continuous improvement in construction. He holds a PhD degree from National University of Singapore and a MSc degree from Loughborough University in the UK.

MR ROBIN NEO is a Registered WSHO and ECO and was appointed by Takenaka Corporation to lead the EHS Department for Changi Airport Terminal 4 Project in February 2014. Mr Robin has more than 10 years of experience as an EHS Personnel in Singapore Construction Industry.

MR NICK ROBINS has been with Lendlease for over ten years, most recently as part of the Regional Leadership Team for the Lendlease Property Business in Australia. Prior to this role, Nick led the safety function in Europe and oversaw safety on the London Olympics Athletes’ Village, which involved logistics, site establishment, planning, design and delivery. Nick now oversees all aspects of EH&S for the TRX Lifestyle Quarter in Kuala Lumpur and is the ‘go to person’ for thought leadership, coaching and mentoring in terms of EH&S.
