The project was able to save from the activitiesbecause of the free use of the office and community facilities for the childdevelopment sessions and meetings. The project also saves from the expensesduring the Childrens Month Celebration- Make a Child Happy at SM SanLazaro as it was sponsored by the DSWD in partnership with SM Foundation.During the activity, the project only paid the transportation allowance and lesseramount of the meals of adult volunteers as counter part of the project. Thevolunteerism of the community leaders, children, and youth helped a lot in theimplementation of the activities for the quarter. B. Major Issues, Concerns, Bottlenecks, Challenges in ProjectImplementation

During this quarter, most of the children and youth are busy with otherschool and community activities. However, they can find time to participate in the

    some activities of the project.

The project has to consider the interest of the group to the kind of childdevelopment activities to be given.

Some of the children and youth leaders failed to attend the meetings andsome project activities. There were activities that are in conflict with the scheduleof the other activities. Some members are hesitant to attend meetings or otheractivities because of their conflict with their co-members. Some reason also isthe miscommunication of the members especially in sending the invitation duringthe meetings or activities. Some members of the children and youth didnt come

at the right scheduled time and they will not come if their close friends are notpresent.

Some trained male Peer Facilitators cannot be assigned from otherbarangay to give sessions because of being afraid to the behavior of the otheryouths in the community. Because of the large number of male facilitatorsassigned in one barangay, some of the male facilitators were not given thechance to facilitate. There was also difficulty in scheduling their childdevelopment sessions because of the conflict of the activities also of the PeerFacilitators in the community and in school. Some Peer facilitators have difficultyin conducting the sessions because of the absence of venue in the barangay.

Some of them conducted the sessions in the street which is very noisy that candisturb their sessions. Only one child development session were implementedthis quarter because of very limited time for them and other conflict activities andtraining. Some group of facilitators did not conduct the session based on thescheduled time during the meeting; however they still conducted it on thefollowing days.

During the culminating activity, only 41 children and youth out of 60 targetparticipants are present and some of them did not come at the scheduled time. Some members have miscommunication when it comes to the invitation.

Childrens Month Celebration were also done successfully but there aresome hindrances that serve as bottlenecks during the activity. The requestedtraffic police officers did not come to accompany the flow of the parade. Theamplifier that were used during the activity is also not functioning well thus; weneed to get another amplifier that makes our time wasted. It is very noisybecause the venue is open and some of the children are playing in the ground. The time is also very limited because there are also people who will utilize thevenue thus we need to rush the activity. During the theater art presentation which

was incorporated during the childrens month activity, some of the members didnot perform because some were not present and they feel ashamed. The activitywas participated with 333 children and youth and 80 adults which was over onthe projected number of only 300 children and youth and 30 adults thus therewas a lacking on the snacks and lunch.

    C. Actions Taken/ Strategies Adopted to Address Project Challengesand/or to Achieve Project Goals/ Objectives?

The implementation of the activities was done during the availability of thechildren and youth who are going to participate in the different activities.Meetings were conducted during weekends as their availability. Parentleaders were mobilized to follow-up and mobilize the children and youth'sparticipation in the child development sessions. The project providedcommunication letter to the children and youth leaders for them to attend

the meetings and to inform them of the activities of the project. The letterwas sent through the active officers who disseminate the information.Aside from the letter, the children and youth were informed through textand call. The project has to do with the conflict resolution among themembers to avoid misunderstanding and develop more friendship.

The project has again developed 3 children and 1 youth as new facilitatorsfor the roll-out of the National Capacity Building program and as anadditional asset to ensure the participation of the children. To answer theproblem on the absence of the facilitator to the newly barangay, the 4facilitators were develop as they came from these barangay. The project

taps the old facilitators to achieve the target outputs for the childdevelopment sessions. The project also comes with the schedule of theother activities in the community to avoid the conflict of activities especiallyon the use of venue. Regarding the venue in the street, the project alsoasked the leaders of the barangay if they can use small part of the housewhere the sessions can be conducted rather than in the street. Monthlymeeting among the peer facilitators were conducted to discuss aboutproblems and plan for any action and recommendation.

The BCYA Point person communicate to the leaders of Parent Associationand other children and youth leaders to follow-up the implementation of

the child development sessions monthly. The Point person comes up witha letter to the community mobilizer to inform about the schedule of thesessions in their respective barangay. Although the implementation wasnot on the expected dates, it was still implemented during this quarterexcept to the third topic because of limited time, Peer Facilitators stilllooking forward to implement the activities to those who have not yetimplement the session.

    D. Best Practices and Lessons Learned

Coordination to leaders of children and youth and volunteers/leaders ofthe parent association is really important to follow-up the implementationof the activities. On the same manner, coordination to the social worker

incharge to the barangay is much needed to follow-up the status ofparticipation of the children and youth and to remind them of the scheduleof activities. It is important reminder that the implementation of the childdevelopment activities should be of interest to the children and ageappropriate and to the level of thinking of peer facilitators and participants.Developing of 2nd liner leaders and Peer facilitators is of great help to theprogram in terms of strengthening the level of participation among thechildren in the community. The project is very much needed to developedvolunteers and peer facilitators to assist in the program implementationand for them to learn to manage their own project. Moreover, tapping ofother resources available to the community can help lessen the expenses

of the activities of the project.

    E. Project Emerging Impacts/Intermediate Results

Because of the projects seminars and trainings given to the children andyouth it boost their confident to somewhat manage their own programmore so in the implementation of child development sessions in thecommunity. The formation of another group of Peer Facilitators has agreat impact to achieve the target outputs and the quality outcome of theproject as well as to the community. The 4 newly trained facilitators are

another asset to the project that can help in the implementation of thechild development sessions. The lessons, knowledge, and skills that theyacquired during the facilitating skills and other activities can help thechildren and youth define their roles and responsibility to the otherchildren. Being part of the BCYA program is an avenue for growth anddevelops interpersonal relationship among other children and avoids themfrom trouble especially the youth.

    F. Integration of Sponsorship Activities to Project

The integration of Building Child and Youth Agency Program in thesponsorship activities has always been coordinated. The formation of PeerFacilitators has guided the children especially CCF children to create agood and quality outputs of letters that can be send to their sponsors.Peer facilitators always integrate letters among the participants every afterchild development sessions that can be send to their sponsors. Moreover, children can get more ideas that they can also tells to the other childrenthus it can be one way to pull them to participate in activities.
