OUR RE STRATEGY

We are keen supporters of viable projects even if

done on limited recourse or on a project financebasis. We prefer projects with PPAs that are notsolely reliant on the FIT.

We like run-of-river mini-hydro projects andselected biomass projects which use own plantsagricultural waste materials as feedstock toproduce own power (captive).

The Bank will continue to tap the followingsectors for energy efficiency financing: hotelsand resorts, malls, commercial building,industries, and agro-processing.

see strong credit worthy ESCOs with proven

FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM

In March 2010, BDO signed a CooperationAgreement with the International FinanceCorporation (IFC) to facilitate the financing ofenergy efficiency and renewable energy

investment projects. IFC will provide advisoryand capacity building services to BDO to developand promote sustainable energy financing.

Sustainable energy projects include investments

in energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy(RE) projects (below 15 MW).

IFC and EE/RE consultants will assist the Bankin the appraisal and evaluation of specific marketsegments, technologies and projects involvingEE and RE investments. This enhances the

Banks capacity- building efforts in managingsustainable energy portfolio.

IFC is providing the Bank advisory services inthe following areas:

Support in market identification IFC will assistthe Bank in developing strategy for EE and REfinancing and in identifying specific target

market. 7

Capacity building for Bank staff IFC willconduct training and workshops for Bankofficers in the following areas: technical andfinancial evaluation of EE and RE projects; risk

evaluation and management; project andprogram monitoring.

Specific market research Conduct of marketstudies on specific market segments which

BDO would require from IFC. IFC will alsoprovide BDO with all scoping studies alreadycompleted by IFC.

Relationship brokering IFC will assist inidentifying equipment suppliers and energyservice companies (ESCOs) for thedevelopment of BDOs pipeline projects.

Marketing supportAssist BDO in developingthe marketing and awareness campaign for itssustainable energy finance program.

Energy efficiency and renewable energycalculators IFC will provide energy efficiencyand renewable energy calculators to help theBank officers evaluate energy efficiency and

renewable energy projects. This is inconjunction with the training on technical andfinancial evaluation of EE and RE projects.

BENEFITS TO CLIENTS

BDO provides free-of-charge energy walkthroughaudit to assess clients plant facilities and

presents audit findings, EE solutions if any, andcomputation of energy savings. If client needs

financial assistance, BDO can provide financingfor the EE investment.

For RE projects, RE consultant will preparetechnical evaluation of the project and can

provide advisory services to clients in the area oftechnology and feedstock (for biomass projects)assessment.
