BE A PART OF HISTORYNearly 100 years ago on April 9, 1917, Canadian soldiers made history as they celebrated their unifying victory at Vimy Ridge. This victory was a proud, defining moment for our nation that solidified our identity and independence.

In 2017, join thousands of Canadian students and teachers from across the country who will relive Canada’s past on our Historic Event Tours. EF’s exclusive educational partnerships and deep local access ensure that you’re truly part of the action during once-in-a-lifetime events. 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONSStare up in awe at the one-of-a-kind limestone monument as you take part in ceremonies commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

ANNE FRANK HOUSEClimb the stairs into the attic where Anne penned her famous diary and imagine what life would have been like as she and her family hid from German invaders.

CHAMPS-ÉLYSÉESAdmire the theatres, cafés and shops as you explore this world-famous avenue that stretches all the way to the Arc de Triomphe.

Days 1-2: AmsterdamFly overnight to Amsterdam and meet your Tour Director at the airport.

Day 3: AmsterdamExplore Amsterdam in-depth with an expert local guide. Enter the poignant wartime past of Amsterdam at Anne Frank House, where the young girl hid with her family from 1942 to 1944. Then continue on to the Vimy region and get excited to experience the upcoming 100th anniversary celebrations.

Day 4: Vimy regionJoin thousands of fellow Canadians for the once-in-a-lifetime 100th anniversary ceremonies celebrating Canada’s victory at Vimy Ridge. Visit the profoundly moving Canadian National Vimy Memorial, and learn the story of our country’s coming of age. Wrap up the day by participating in an exclusive evening event to celebrate Canada.

Day 5: Vimy regionAdmire the towering white limestone Canadian National Vimy Memorial that stands as tribute to the more than 10,000 soldiers killed and wounded in battle. Discover the secret behind the sheep that graze the fields in the Vimy region. Then visit the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial and learn about the devastating loss to the Newfoundland Regiment during the Battle of the Somme.

Day 6: Normandy regionTravel to the Normandy region. Visit Arromanches and witness the rusted remnants of the port built to offload cargo needed for the Battle of Normandy.

Day 7: Normandy region | ParisStand on the shores of Juno Beach, where Canadian soldiers fought to liberate mainland Europe. At the interactive Juno Beach Centre, discover the bravery and sacrifice made by the Allies on D-Day. Reflect on how the families back home were impacted as you walk along the

gravestones at the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery. Then continue on to Paris and take in the City of Light on a walking tour.

Day 8: ParisOn a guided tour of Paris, explore the Champs-Élysées, the elegant boulevard packed with high-fashion boutiques. Pass the Place de la Concorde, the Arc de Triomphe, Les Invalides and the Conciergerie. Then strike a pose in front of the Eiffel Tower. Admire the beauty of the Hall of Mirrors on an optional visit to the grand palace of Versailles.

Day 9: Loire Valley | ParisSpend some more time discovering Paris on your own or take in the châteaux, art, architecture and culture of the beautiful Loire Valley on an optional excursion.

Day 10: Depart for HomeTravel to the airport and depart for home, prepared to carry on the legacy of past generations.

2-DAY TOUR EXTENSION

Day 10: LondonTravel by Eurostar train to London and visit the Imperial War Museum to discover how the World Wars affected Britain. Explore the city in depth on a walking tour.

Day 11: LondonOn a guided tour of London, listen to the sounds of history at Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Marvel at architectural masterpieces like St. Paul’s Cathedral and watch for the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. Spend a half day on an excursion to Windsor, built for William the Conqueror in 1070.

Day 12: Depart for HomeTravel to the airport and depart for home, prepared to carry on the legacy of past generations.
