Amos is the oldest of the written

prophets. He was a vine dresser and tree

trimmer by trade. As with all his

successors, he didn’t want the job. Amos

was called to preach to the northern

kingdom (Israel) in hopes that they would

reform before the Assyrians came to

conquer them (didn’t work-northern

kingdom fell in 722BC).

Amos’ accusation against the people

focused on their complacency in following

God’s commandments. Even 2,750 years

ago, society was “me” centered! Hopefully,

we learn from others’ mistakes. If we think

of others before ourselves we may not be

able to change everyone, but we will be

giving them a good example to

follow.

October 1, 8 & 15 Series of classes on Sacred Scripture entitled “Jesus: Word of the Father” Hermit Sister Mary Beverly at Marymount Hermitage in Mesa, Idaho will be offering classes on October 1, 8 & 15, 2019 from 2-3 PM in Mercy House. The classes will be on Sacred Scripture: what Catholics believe about revelation, Bible basics, how to read, understand and pray with Scripture. The series will be an extended study of Dei Verbum/The Word of God, one of the major Vatican II Council docu-ments. The presentations will be supplemented by the teachings of Pope Benedict XVI from his letter entitled Verbum Domini/The Word of the Lord. No reservations are needed. Family Ministry with the Deacons Deacons Humberto Almeida and Kerry Harris are holding Family Min-istry classes after mass. The deacons are there to share their knowledge and love of the faith with you. For those of you whose children are busy attending either Children’s or Youth Ministry, it is the perfect way to pass the time while you are waiting for them. Listen, learn, ask questions, discuss. You can find Dea-con Humberto in the main church, while Deacon Kerry will be in large conference room next to the parish office.

Mañana Será Muy Tarde

Ministerio Familiar Con Los Diáconos

Los Diáconos Humberto Almeida y Kerry Harris tendran sesiones del Min-isterio de Familia después de las misas. Para aquellos de ustedes que tienen hijos en el Ministerio de Niños o Jóvenes, es una manera perfecta de pasar su tiempo en lugar de esperar a que sus hijos salgan de la clase. Escucha, aprende, haz preguntas, discute. Los diáconos están ahí para compartir sus conocimientos contigo. Pueden encontrar al Diácono Hum-berto en la iglesia principal, mientras que el Diácono Kerry estará en el salon de conferencias al lado de la Oficina Parroquial.

El Ministerio de Jovenes Necesita Voluntarios
