Instructions $ Dritz® 5/8” fold-over elastic

$ 4-3/4” x 12” fabric (outside)

$ 4-3/4” x 12” fabric (inside)

$ 4-3/4” x 12” iron-on vinyl

1. Following the instructions on the package, apply

the vinyl to inside fabric.

2. Pin the elastic along the center of the inside fabric.

5/8” - there should be 17 marks.

Extend the right end approximately 1/4” over the

fabric edge. The other end will be longer, and will

create the loop that holds the roll closed.

4. Stitch every pencil mark - be sure to backstitch a

few times to make sure it’s really secure.

5. Pin the two fabrics with right-sides together.

6. Stitch together three sides - leave the entire end

with the loop open.

7. Turn it all right-side out.

8. Tuck in the raw fabric ends, and pin the elastic

between the two layers.

step #9 will create 1 more crayon space on each end

9. Add an 1/8” topstitch all the way around.

Tips & Techniques pinning vinyl

To prevent visible pinholes, place your pins parallel

to the fabric edge, and try to keep them within

the 1/4” seam allowance.

Dritz® tomato pin cushion It will be easier to leave the whole end open

(instead of the usual 4-6” opening) b/c the vinyl

coating is less pliable than regular fabric.

Do a backstitch or two over the elastic loop for

a little extra insurance.

Be careful: The vinyl coating shows every stitch

hole if you have to remove it.
