WATER

What happens if I don’t turn the tap off when I soap my hands?

Page 8: Be Water Conscious

We want to know what happens if we don’t turn the tap off when we soap our hands, so we make a hypothesis and design an experiment.

We need soap, a sink with a tap , a container and a measure jug.

First I turn the tap on Then I wet my hands and I soap them I lather and rub them

I rinse my hands I dry them well and I turn the tap off We mesure the wasted water

Page 9: Be Water Conscious

I waste 1 litre 550 ml of water when soaping my hands with the tap on. So If I don’t turn the tap off when I soap my hands I waste more than 1 litre of water.

If everybody in class does the same we will waste more than 40 litres of water. That’s a lot of water! And we know that water is a scarce resource. So remember:

What can we do with this water? We can reuse it

by watering plants, mopping the floor cleaning the desks cleaning the windows

Can you think of others ways to reuse water?
