Aggressive Behavior

Aggression is a serious issue and should be addressed as soon as possible.


Beagles are not immune to aggression. If you think all beagles are always friendly,

think again.


The age of 6 weeks marks the time when aggression can begin to be shown by a

beagle.


6 weeks is also the age when a puppy should be socialized.


This socialization process lasts until your beagle turns 14 weeks of age and

sometimes even further.


Your puppy should stay with their litter until they are 8 weeks of age.


Don’t use harsh discipline with your puppy between 8 and 10 weeks.


Treat your puppy gently.


Hitting, yelling or any kind of punishments can cause aggressive behavior in dogs.


Your beagle needs to have been properly socialized with other dogs as well as with

people by the age of 14 weeks.


The most important factor in creating aggressive beagles is their environment.


Aggression can grow from lack of Alpha leadership in your household.


Aggressive behavior, such as biting, is often the result of a dog testing for dominance.


You’ll need to establish your leadership at a young age and keep that position to ensure your beagle doesn’t have the need to take

control.


If your beagle lacks your Alpha leadership or is allowed liberties in your home, they

might show aggressive tendencies.


If your beagle shows defensive-aggressive behavior, they may be acting out of fear.


Perhaps your beagle hasn’t been properly socialized.


They might see young children as a menace, so keep your children away from your

beagle until the issue is resolved.


Seek help if your beagle is already an adult. You can get training sessions or consult with

a behaviorist to socialize your dog.
