Junior Camogie TeamOn Sunday the 2nd of March,

    Ballina travelled to Cloughjordan and

took on Kilruane MacDonaghs in the

first round of the Junior B Camogie

    League.

This was Ballinas first effort at

adult level in quite a number of years &

the girls put in a super effort to get the

League campaign off to a great start.

Ballina were on top in most areas and

recorded a very good win on the score

of Ballina 5-8; Kilruane MacDonaghs 0-

    2.

Below is a picture of the Ballina

    panel on the day.

We also have a picture of a

    Ballina/Killaloe team from circa 1942

    courtesy of Paddy Collins.

As well as a contrast in the

playing attire, the number of players on

a Camogie team has also changed.

Camogie was a 12-a-side game back

then & up to the early 2000s

Ballina then qualified for Round 2A (allround 1 winners) and drew 2013 Senior Runners-UpNenagh ire g in Nenagh on Sunday 16thMarch.ire g will be amongst the favourites for the CountySenior Hurling Title in October and with theirperformance left everyone in no doubt that theyintend to be in the final shake-up. Club MembershipAs many of you will know, the club has

embarked on an expansion programme and willhopefully break ground in the coming weeks on thelong-awaited new pitch. The club has been workingthrough the masses of red tape and paperworkassociated with draw-down on the 56k Lotto Grantsince last summer time and we are optimistic that wewill get the final approval in the coming weeks.

    2014 Adult Club Membership

Membership is now due. You may registeron line (see below) or membership may be given toany club officer. Adult membership 45 for the year.Players not registerd as a member will not becovered by the Player Injury Scheme if injuredduring a game or training.

    2014 Juvenile Club Membership

With this necessary development in mind, a

decision was made at the Juvenile AGM to ask eachfamily for a contribution on top of the child'smembership rate. The cost of registering 1 x childremains unchanged at 45, butwe are asking eachfamily to pay an additional contribution of 25 in2014. The good news for those who are Friends ofBallina GAA scheme contributors or to the Buy ASod scheme participants is that you do not have to

pay this 25 contribution (it is paid as part of theregistration but a refund can be obtained from theJuvenile Chairman, Secretary or Tresurer). As analternative to paying this 25 family contribution, families can opt to take up a family membershippackage, which doesn't incur the 25 familycontribution. This is an alternative worth considering. Why not go all the way and be a full member of theclub that your child is a part of ?

As a committee, we are conscious that any

increase is not a good message to have to give, butas a club we need to invest if we wish to continue tohave facilities and we need the support of everyonewho uses the facilities.

2014 Juvenile Club Membership In Summary

    1. Registration rate is unchanged from2013 -45 for 1 child

    2. Additional Family Contribution of 25for all families in 2014 (Friends of BallinaGAA & Buy A Sod contributors exempt

get a credit afterwards from Club Chair,Sec or Treas.)3. Families can avail of any 1 of the 6

Family Membership packages instead ofpaying the 25 Juvenile Membership +Family Contribution.

FOB members have been able to benefitfrom getting 1 x free adult membership of the club(or get a 20 rebate on your Juvenile Membership)and this arrangement holds for 2014 also.

If you are registering children online, I just

wanted to clarify that your membership fee isdeemed to be paid arising from your FOBcontribution (unless you notify us that you want touse your FOB contribution to reduce your JuvenileMembership by 20). You do not need to pay foryourself again as an adult member - just register thechildren (or other adults in your household that youwould like to buy membership for). If for any reasonyou paid for membership for yourself in error, pleasecontact the club secretary or any committee memberfor a refund.

Also note that the Family Contribution of 25that was introduced this year for those registeringchildren in the Juvenile Club is not payable for FOBcontributors. If you are registering online, you paythe total cost (which includes the FamilyContribution) and then email or send the registrationinformation to the Juvenile Club Secretary, EileenBreen or myself or Sharon O'Donovan for a refund ofthe 25.
