Bears sign Sherrod Martin, Daniel Thomas to 1-year deals

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) - The Chicago Bears have signed safety Sherrod Martin and running backDaniel Thomas to one-year contracts.

Martin has appeared in 72 games with 38 starts over six seasons for Carolina (2009-13) andJacksonville (2014). He has 195 tackles, eight interceptions, 22 pass breakups, five forced fumblesand one fumble recovery. He played in 13 games for the Jaguars last season and had oneinterception, two pass breakups and one forced fumble.

Thomas played in 52 games for Miami from 2011-14 and ran for 1,480 yards on 409 attempts. Heappeared in 12 games last season.

The Bears also waived kicker Jeremiah Detmer, quarterback Pat Devlin and tight end Jacob Maxwellon Thursday.
