Beast Bits for Zoogoer
Wrinkled Hornbill
From far away, a Wrinkled Hornbill might look like the Fruit Loops Toucan. Howeer,
these rainbow colored birds hae one peculiar feature which makes them
completely uni!ue" the birds hae a helmet# like structure on their beak called a
cas!ue, giing them the name hornbill. Wrinkled Hornbills are hard to miss because
they are bright and loud. Their uni!ue calls and wing beats can be heard for more
than half a mile away$
Three#Banded %rmadillo
Three#banded armadillos eat beetle larae. %nts and termites are another
part of their diet during the dry season. &uring the wet season, armadillos eat
fruit.
the only armadillos that can completely enclose themseles in their own shell
by rolling into a ball. This is a defense adaptation against predators. The large
front and rear portions of the shell are not attached to the skin on the sides,
proiding free space to 't the head, legs and tail into the shell when the
animals are rolled up.

digging.
