Montseny Natural Park • It’s located in the mountain range west of the

coastal hills north of Barcelona.

• It has the highest mountains in the south area of the Pyrenees .

• UNESCO designated Montsenny a biosphere reserve in 1978 and the regional government designated it a natural park in 1987.

• The highest peak is Turó de l’Home.

• The park is home to a variety of Mediterranean and Alpine fauna. There are also a large number of megalithic structures in the park.

Montserrat Mountain • Montserrat is a multi-peaked

mountain located near the city of Barcelona.

• It is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range.

• "Montserrat" literally means "jagged (serrated) mountain" in Catalan . It describes the peculiar aspect of the rock formation which can be seen from a long distance. The mountain is composed of strikingly pink conglomerate, a form of sedimentary rock.

Ebro's Delta

•The Ebro Delta is the largest wetland area in Catalonia, with a surface of 320 square km.

• It is one of the most important aquatic habitats in the western Mediterranean. The delta has 325 of the 600 bird species existing in Europe.

•The Natural Park of the Ebro Delta is located at the mouth of the River Ebro in Tarragona province.

•It was declared a protected area in 1983.

• The combination of a very good summer climate, nature, excellent beaches is one of the characteristics of this part of Spain.

• La Costa Brava begins at rock La Palomera (Blanes) and ends at the border with France. Its length is over 200 km.

• It includes the three coastal counties: La Selva, Baix Empordà and Alt Empordà. There are beautiful beaches such as Cadaqués, Port de la Selva, Roses, Castelló d'Ampuries, San Pedro Pescador, Pals Bagur or San Feliu de Guixols.

Rice from the Ebro Delta

• The Ebro Delta agriculture is a major economic basis, with a clear predominance of rice.

• There are about 1,500 varieties, which differ depending on the length of the grains: short or round, medium and long.

• The rice cycle requires periodic flooding of a large amount of surface delta (40%).

Pyrenees•The Pyrenees are a range of mountains

in the north of the Iberian Peninsula and around the isthmus that joins Europe.

•They have a length of about 425 km and a width of around 100 km.

•The Central Pyrenees extend westward from the Aran Valley to the Somport pass, and they include the highest summits, such as Pico d’Aneto (3,404 metres).

• The Pyrenees is a unique place for the contemplation of animal species.

•The legendary brown bear stands out among the 200 animal species that live in the mountains, although its population barely reaches 25 copies.

Vilanova•Vilanova i la Geltrú has got a

population of 66,532 inhabitants.

•It is situated 46 km from Barcelona in the region of the Garraf.

•There are traditional and popular festivals. Among them: the Three Tombs, Carnival, the Festa Major,etc...

•Vilanova i la Geltrú's economy includes textile and paper industries. It also has iron foundries and an important agricultural sector. The harbour has a lifeboat station and the headquarters of a large fishing fleet.
