Topsoil you can trust
Why quality is importantEnsuring you have high quality topsoil is essential as it will

composition and source.
Rolawn is recognised as the leading supplier of quality topsoil
(loams). Rolawn topsoils are safe, fertile, certifi ed, of consistent
high quality and available all year nationwide.
The Rolawn commitment• You know where your topsoil is derived from

Calculating your requirementsThe following information enables you to calculate your
requirements.
Blended Loam™ Topsoil 1 bulk bag = 1m3
1 tonne = 1.1m3
Beds & Borders Topsoil 1 bulk bag = 1m3
1 tonne = 1.1m3
Screened Loam Topsoil 1 bulk bag = 0.73m3
1 tonne = 0.67m3
Vegetable & Fruit Topsoil 1 bulk bag = 1m3
1 tonne = 1.1m3
Turf & Lawn Seeding Topsoil 1 bulk bag = 0.73m3
1 tonne = 0.67m3
How to Calculate your requirements:
First, calculate the cubic metres required. Simply multiply
length x width x depth.
Example:A site has an area of 10m x 15m and needs a
coverage of 150mm, 10 x 15 x 0.15 = 22.5m3
Then, once you know the cubic metres, simply divide it by:
1 for bulk bags of Blended Loam™ Topsoil
22.5 divided by 1 = 23 bulk bags
1.1 for loose Blended Loam™ Topsoil
22.5 divided by 1.1 = 21 tonnes
1 for bulk bags of Beds & Borders Topsoil
22.5 divided by 1 = 23 bulk bags
0.73 for bulk bags of Screened Loam Topsoil
22.5 divided by 0.73 = 31 bulk bags
0.67 for loose Screened Loam Topsoil
22.5 divided by 0.67 = 34 tonnes
1 for bulk bags of Vegetable & Fruit Topsoil
22.5 divided by 1 = 23 bulk bags
0.73 for bulk bags of Turf & Lawn Seeding Topsoil
22.5 divided by 0.73 = 31 bulk bags
Note: Due to the nature of these products, the density can
vary. These fi gures are given as a guide only. Conversions

Topsoil you can trust
Rolawn Vegetable & Fruit Topsoil
Rolawn Vegetable & Fruit Topsoil is a fertile, organic rich,
friable topsoil. It is a blend of topsoil derived from prime
arable land and an organic matter, which ensures consistent
results. It does not contain manures which can be variable
and in some instances, potentially harmful.
It is a mix of topsoil and conditioner to suit a variety of vegetables
and fruit.
For certain crops such as tomatoes
and courgettes, which require a
higher nitrogen supply,
nutrient levels should
be supplemented by
the grower.
Rolawn Screened Loam Topsoil
Rolawn Screened Loam Topsoil is a fi ne sandy topsoil,
recovered from prime arable land.
Loose loads are stored under
cover to ensure you receive
a workable product.
It is virtually stone free,
screened to 20mm as
standard. For applications
requiring a fi ner topsoil
we can provide product
screened to 10mm.
Rolawn Turf & Lawn Seeding Topsoil
Rolawn Turf & Lawn Seeding Topsoil is a free fl owing friable
topsoil formulated for use in conjunction with Rolawn turf
to ensure early establishment. It provides a level surface and
fi rm foundation required for laying turf or applying seed and
is easy to spread, even when moist. It is also blended with
Rolawn GroRight® Lawn Establishment Fertiliser to help
ensure a lawn gets off to the best possible start.
Rolawn Beds & Borders Topsoil
Rolawn Beds & Borders Topsoil is a high quality, fertile,
environmentally friendly, organic rich, light and friable
topsoil that contains a controlled release fertiliser and a
water retentive polymer.
The controlled release fertiliser
provides balanced fertility to
promote healthy establishment
of shrubs and plants. The water
retentive polymer forms a
water attractive fi lm on the
surface of the organic fi bres in the
soil. It holds water in and around the
fi bres until required by plants, when it is gradually released,
resulting in reduced water consumption, improved growth
rate and enhanced root development.
8
Compost & Soil Improver
Rolawn Soil ImproverRolawn Soil Improver is a natural soil improver, produced using
a patented process, combining shredded straw compost with
iron minerals. It is highly fertile and has an excellent
appearance, which also makes it ideal for use as a mulch.
Rolawn Soil Improver has been formulated to improve soil
structure, which will enhance the soils drainage characteristics
and air and water holding capabilities, resulting in healthy
plant growth.

• Minimal stone content
• The weight to volume ratio (bulk density) is typically 550kg

When to apply
Rolawn Soil Improver can be applied at any time of year, but
care must be taken to avoid compaction when the soil is wet,
as it may damage the soil structure.
Rolawn Organic Multi-Purpose CompostRolawn Organic Multi-Purpose Compost is a high quality, peat
free organic rich multi-purpose compost. It can be used for

Lawn Fertiliser
Rolawn GroRight®Lawn Establishment FertiliserWhen laying turf or sowing seed, Rolawn GroRight® Lawn
Establishment Fertiliser ensures a lawn gets off to the best
possible start.
GroRight® Lawn Establishment
Fertiliser is a unique mini
granular slow release pre-turfi ng
and seeding fertiliser that feeds
turf and seed from the roots up.
GroRight® Lawn Establishment
Fertiliser mini granules promote
even distribution of nutrients
within the soil, ensuring root
establishment. They also protect
turf from ‘hot’ spots because each small
granule contains less fertiliser than a large granule.
Furthermore, using these mini granules controls the release
of fertiliser with precision, without affecting soil pH levels.
Analysis

All bag weights are ‘when packed’. Weight/volumes of topsoil, lawn topdressing,
soil improver, compost and bark are typical when packed. Turf dimensions are
approximate when harvested. Annual Meadow Grass (Poa Annua) is endemic to the
northern hemisphere. We make strenuous efforts to minimise its content in Rolawn
turf but it is not sold on the basis that it is free of it.
