    In this Edition

Experiencing Identity Theft often has significant unforeseen consequences for you! Do you fully cut up your old bills to ensuring your address and other personal information has been destroyed prior to placing them in your recycling bin? How many pieces do

you cut your old Credit Card into when destroying them? Do you use a variety of numer-

    ous passwords to protect your

online accounts? Have you ever been a victim of identity theft? Experiencing identity theft and

    misuse can have immediate and

unforeseen consequences. Sometimes it can take years from when personal information is compromised to when

such details are used fraudulently to acquire products and services. Experiencing the theft of personal informational and its subsequent misuse

can leave you feeling helpless, anxious and confused. David Lacey is a founder of iDcare and

    BeCAs Website gets an

    Upgrade of Disk Space

    and Bandwidth

Our website is now running smoothly again, as it can now easily accommodate

the volume of traffic that we have been

subjecting it to, in the past! So after two

critical upgrades of Data Space & Band-width we dont expect any more issues.

has over fifteen years experience in National Law Enforcement and National Security Responding to identity theft &

    misuse threats. Dave is a

    senior research fellow at

the University of New South Wales & Royal Melbourne Institute of

    Technology.

The primary information channel available to all Bellvista and

Bells Reach residents from your Community Association is via

the BeCA website. After the websites recent upgrade it is a matter of moments to have an item up online and available

    through the BeCA website.

So if there is some news or events you wish to read up on,

then the website should be your first port of call. Items from

the website are then copy/pasted to create this Newsletter. So the reports and imagines shown here in this newsletter,

maybe a little out of date & only shown as Black & White images , where as the

Website is in full colour with a complete Database of every newsletter & article published !

So keep an eye on the website (News & Events tab) for all

the latest news and updates. Often a new post on the website is reported on the BeCA Facebook page with a link to the main

BeCA website. So if you have the Facebook app on your mobile device, you should be getting notifications on your phone or

tablet when a new post goes onto the websites News & Events page.

There is even a spot there for residents to add comments and feedback for others to read and consider.

If you are a real computer geek you could even use the RSS

feed link which would list recently updated News & Events page entries at

    Les Thomas, President

Whilst we supply a small monthly Black & White Newsletter, you can always review our latest Community News in full colour on our Website!

  • Real concern over the vastly

increased traffic volumes! BeCA have raised the issue of vastly increased road traffic on Caloundra Road and its impact on school traffic exiting

and entering the estate during pickup

and drop off times. BeCA is not convinced that the comple-

tion of the proposed second entry/exit

road via Kawana Link Way extension will

have the desired major impact on Bellvista Blvd.

Traffic during busy times, especially in 2017 when up to two proposed State

Schools are planned to open just a few

kilometres south of the current Bellvista/

Bells Reach estates. BeCA believes a con-

    necting road between Pelican Waters

Blvd and the extension of Bellvista Blvd

would be a more viable solution. Cr Baberowski indicated he would pursue BeCAs concerns with the Council

road planners as soon as possible.

The Salesman said it was the ideal car for life in the fast lane!

    www.bellvista.com.au

    Community

    concerns have been

    raised over

    the behaviour

of trail bike riders along the fire trail on northern border of the estate, following

numerous reports from residents. Police have been informed and continue to monitor the situation which is simply annoying, anti-social and often dangerous to the other members of our

community. The added discovery of various imple-

ments used for inappropriate and illegal activities have been discovered around

the BBQ area at Canavan Gracie Recrea-

tional Reserve. Again this information has been passed

on to the police for their advice and assis-tance.

Newsletter Upgrade BeCA has revamped The Connector

Newsletter to make it more attractive

and easily for residents to get a quick

monthly summary of our local news. We hope you agree with the new format?

    Trail Bike Riders are pushing

    their luck!

Happy Tale with a simple plot

Its the type of food your grandparents

used to eat. Fresh, simple and straight

from the garden. With dirt under their fingernails and smiles on their faces, Bell Reach &

Bellvista residents are getting ready to

band together in a new community garden. Construction on the garden start-

ed last week in Bells Reach Active Park. The new community space will allow

residents to grow fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables. Community Pastor Phil Smith said the

garden would provide residents with an

opportunity to get out and meet their neighbours. There is the share product and gather

for a yarn after working the soil together he said. For listening and learning, cross- generational relationships could happen

in this garden. Everyone can learn new skills and families who might be a long way from

extended family might find local stand-in grandparents, The community garden project had

been a collaboration between local residents and Stockland who formed a not-for-profit community group. The Garden will be ready for the first

seedlings to be planted late next month, and Stockland development professional

Hannah Williams said private and commu-nal plots would be available. The Garden group will hold regular

workshops for members and residents who are interested in learning about sustainable gardening principles.

Report by Lauren Grounsell of the Caloundra Weekly

    Digging in together

If you see or hear vandals

misbehaving please report it to Police! Caloundra Police Station numbers are: 07 5439 4444 or Police Link 131 444

Regretfully we continue to find people

amongst us that cant behave themselves

in a civilised manner. Please feel free to drop BeCA an email with some detail (see details page 4) or

complete a simple Police report with, or

without immunity. BeCA urges that any case of inappropri-ate behavior spotted around our area is

to be reported immediately to the Police. We have a beautiful lifestyle & environ-ment and we want to keep it that way!

  • Water Supply Issues Unity Water was contacted earlier this month regarding the variation in water pressure being experienced in our area

over several days early in March. Some homes may have lost supply altogether! The reason given was there has been

numerous breakages in water mains in the Caloundra area recently. It is quite uncommon for there to be so many problems in one area over such a short

period of time. As a water main breaks, the water supply is cut off to that area which causes a resultant drop in pressure to other nearby areas. Unity Water apologizes for

any inconvenience and on each occasion strives to resume full service as quickly as possible.

Safety First at Quinn Park BeCA has been in-formed of some inappropriate behav-

iour at Quinn Park in Bells Reach. Some unsupervised children

were seen smashing bottles around the

play equipment over the weekend. Regretfully an unsuspecting child

suffered a cut from the broken glass.

Stockland were informed and took immediate action to clean the area up and make it safe for all again. As a further step

to arrest this type of behaviour from unsupervised children, security at the park has been upgraded to ensure all can enjoy

the Park facilities safely without any more

    incidents of this kind.

Stocklands follow up our intersection concerns

Following representation on behalf of residents to Stockland, BeCA is delighted to forward the following information onto

    residents, especially residents in Bells

Reach. Concerns have been raised regarding the partial obstruction of driver vision to

traffic negotiating the Bells Reach Drive/

Indigo Rd intersection. Stockland have advised BeCA the tall H Sign right on the corner has now been removed to assist

with driver safety at that corner. Also traffic policeman felt the No Right Turn sign at the inter-section Indigo Rd and Bellvista Blvd is probably not in the

best interests of motorists, as for much of

the day it is perfectly safe to make such a turn as long as the road is clear. Its suggested that the No Right Turn

only be enforced during school drop off

and pick up times. The suggestion is being considered by Stocklands and Council and

    may be implemented shortly. Stockland

believe a re-designing of the inter-section would be required to allow this to occur. Stocklands civil consultants have now

engaged Jonathan Dare-Williams, the technical leader of transport planning and engineering from MWH Global to come up

with a proposal. Stockland will then need to take the proposal to the DSDIP (State Government) for their final approval. BeCA will keep you informed of any devel-

    opments in the meantime.

Please Note: Traffic policeman recently issued 12

tickets to drivers making an illegal right

turn from Indigo Rd into Bellvista Blvd. Drivers should be aware that the current No Right Turn law is currently in place

and drivers choosing to ignore the sign will

still be liable for a FINE until a final decision is made and appropriate signage

is installed and the intersection modifications are completed.
