Saifiyah Girls School

… because we care Dear Saifiyian families

As we know, students are most likely to be successful in school when they par-

ticipate in activities and their parents involve themselves in their education. At

SGS, we work hard to help our students take the best decisions regarding their

schoolwork and exhibiting progressive characteristics.

I recently read an article about how to inspire teens to practice work habits that

will lead them towards becoming respectful adults. The author mentioned that

the key to helping teens to develop healthy habits is by getting them involved in

activities that garner their life skills on becoming their best. How does that

work? The author explained that teens need examples of respectful habits that

are modeled for them. She talked about letting teens see positive relationships

between mother and father, sisters and brothers, home and school.

Successful professionals practice common habits. They ask good questions,

consider others perspectives, collaborate, persist, seek new challenges and fre-

quently examine themselves. We at SGS also encourage teachers to continue

participating in the work of shaping our teens for the future.

We have designed our academic sessions based on particular themes. It is de-

signed to recall, reinforce, analyze, apply, and modify a particular topic in inter-

related subjects so as to make it more relevant and useful. Parents can be a

great help to students in this regard. Encourage them to study and review sub-

jects daily; show interest and ask questions them about school assignments.

Also, ask your child how they develop their ideas or answers, practice vocabu-

lary words in your conversations and encourage reading and writing at home.

Dear parents, I appreciate the support in helping your children to have a pro-

ductive school year. One should continue to expect the best from our children.

You should ask about their homework, their peers, and their relationships be-

tween them and their teachers. Regardless of the profession your child chooses,

my hope is that she will mature into a respectful and responsible adult.

Parents, please continue encouraging your child to do her best. Your involve-

ment supports, encourages and motivates us as well!

Sincerely

“Element art + Element Science + Element Sports = SGS Stars

The starting point of our walk was at al nadil burhani to our school. We

were provided security. This walk was beneficial as we can maintain our

health. It develops our stamina, and it help us to stay fit in our daily

life. We took many pictures while walking. We were accompanied by

our following class mates and dedicated teachers.

CO CURRICULAR IN SGS 2015-16

COLOURED FLAMES

The value of Science is being in-creased due to its wonderful in-ventions. As we are students of IX Science group, we are taught sub-jects like Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Keeping these subjects in mind, our school held a fair based on Science; naming it “Science Fair” and it was held on 13th November 2015.

Classes VIII, IX and X took part in this fair. Each of them chose a field and tried to do something new and show their creativity and understanding by displaying their projects in front of the audience. One project was on the solar ov-en; oven which works by the rays of the Sun. Another produced electricity by the flow of water. There was also a train working by

the help of magnetism. We made a group of four girls and chose the field of Biology in which we de-cided to make the “Hemo-dialysis machine. We chose this because many times people hear the word “dialysis” but they never try to think what this word means or what it is about. We made this project to show the audience how the machine works, almost like kidneys, cleaning and purifying the blood and taking it around the body. Such structural and func-tional knowledge has made it eas-ier for man to discover the cure for many diseases.

Students of Class VIII par-

ticipated in "CO-OP Pro-

gram:”

Students got an opportunity for

their first work experience

through professional, commer-

cial and industrial establish-

ments for a week from the

28th of December 2015 till

2nd January 2016. Co-op pro-

grams provide many valuable

experiential learning opportu-

nities for students and it is a

great way for them to under-

stand the different possibilities

that are available in the market

before they take a vital decision

of selecting elective subjects

that would pave a way for their

future. We sincerely, appreciate

the enthusiastic support of all

who hosted our students.

SGS has the tradition of promoting her brilliant students through

out the year. This makes them active, social and creative.

TODDLE ON THE PATH

What comes in your mind after reading that? Color flames is a common pyrotechnic effect used in stage productions,

fireworks and by fire performers the world over. Generally, the color of

a flame may be red, orange, blue, yellow, or white.

Students of X performed a practical on one of the color flame in the la-

boratory. Firstly, they took the glass, then dipped the end of glass rod in

Liquid HCL, then dipped the rod in the SALT which was in the powder

form called Sodium Borate and then they burned the salt in the flame

which changed the color of flame in apple green. It was a beautiful color

flame. We call it magic. But those who know the reasons behind

these changes call it Chemistry. Hawa, Husaina, Ruqaiya M,

in the program. They

were in groups and pre-

sented different themes.

MY REFLECTIONS FOR ASHARAH 1437.

The reason why Ashara Mubaraka is important for each and every

Mumin is because Imam Hussain SA served his life for the will of Allah,

and for all the Mumineen who are so sinful, so that their sins can be

forgiven on the Day of Judgment. His Holiness had been preaching to

us since many months before the Ashara to come early to the waaz, and

make prior preparations for it. When 1437 Hijri Ashara was announced

to be held in Houston, many people decided to attend it there, but

many people attended all nine days of blessings and forgiveness in their

own cities. No matter where they were, almost all the people came to

the mosque before the starting time.

Punctuality of time was the first and most important thing we learned.

We should always be punctual in everything and this will make us a

better person.

The second important thing which we learned was how to boost our

memory. I learnt that to have a good memory, we need to regularly

practice three things: 1) Recitation of Quran-e-Majeed, 2) Brushing our

teeth (at least twice a day), and 3) Fasting. We can also sharpen our

memory and get rid of forgetfulness by consuming Nagarmotha; a com-

bination of Nagarmotha leaves, honey and saffron.

We also got to know the importance of being fit and healthy by the help

of a healthy diet, good sleep and physical fitness. Also, exercise too

keeps us healthy and fit.

Apart from this, we also learned about the importance of honey bees

and how hard-working bees are, and that Mumineen should also be

busy like honey bees. Honey is an energy booster. It contains the cure of

a number of diseases; prevents heart diseases and also helps to heal

wounds. The best type of honey produced is the “Sidr” or “Lohani” hon-

ey; which is found in Yemen and New Zealand.

These are a few of the many things we learned during this Ashara, and

they will definitely benefit us if we will follow all that our beloved Maula

TUS taught us. May Allah bless our Spiritual leader a healthy and long

life. Ameen.

Muffadal Maula tus the angel of the world!

Where he is the one who knows what

Is wrong and what is right for us

He bestows and bestows his blessings on us

We the Mumineen are thankful to him

And love to do deedar of him

He is the one, the shinning star

Who glows near and from far

As we pray for him all the time
