Our Commitment to You

We will endeavour to meet agreed dates and times for all courses, however, we reserve the right to cancel or amend a course, date or start time.

Please note – we need a minimum of 10 delegates for a course to run.

Notification of a course cancellation will be sent via email. In circumstances beyond our control, a course may have to be cancelled at short notice. In all cases we will do our utmost to arrange suitable alternatives.

Cancellation Policy

Once we receive a completed booking form, a confirmation and invoice will be raised. If you cancel your place at least four weeks prior to the course start date there will be no cancellation charge. We will raise a credit note for the cost of the course.

If you are unable to give four weeks’ notice of a cancellation, then the following charges will apply:

Less than one week’s notice - cancellation fee will be 100% of course fee.

Less than two weeks’ notice - cancellation fee will be 50% of course fee.

Less than four weeks’ notice - cancellation fee will be 25% of course fee.

We are working in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council. The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and European Social Fund (ESF) will fund or co-fund learners who are unemployed and receiving Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), Income Support or Universal Credit (conditions apply) or earn less than 16 times the National Minimum Wage a week or £330 a month, housing benefit, council tax relief and tax credits. You will need to provide a letter from the Job Centre dated one month before the course start date as confirmation. Learners must be 19 years and above on 31 August 2018.

Course Tutor: Wendy Usher – Inclusion Training Course Details: Many children are seen a being clumsy, falling over, misjudging widths of doorways, constantly spilling drinks and knocking this over. Dyspraxia used to be called the clumsy child syndrome. It’s far more than this. It affects the way a child or young person may take in information, make sense of it and relate this to the world around them. The Environmental Rating Scales are a framework to support self-evaluation and improvement. The scales are recognised by OFSTED and support the principles of the EYFS. Course Tutor: Helen Field Course Details: This one day course is designed to support managers and practitioners who lead and support staff members, students or volunteers. Regular supervision of staff is a vital element in the safeguarding of children and creating a safe working culture. The updated Safeguarding and welfare requirements in the EYFS state that effective ongoing supervision of staff should be implemented providing support coaching and training for practitioners. By examining leadership styles this will give managers a chance to reflect on whether staff performance issues are due to being a ‘can’t do’ person or a ‘won’t do’ person and the type of strategies to follow. Paediatric First Aid for Childcare Practitioners Training Providers: Bostock Health Care, HTS Ltd, St John Ambulance Course Details: Paediatric First Aid is specifically designed to cover issues for children less than 12 years of age and meets the EYFS criteria for effective PFA training Paediatric first aid includes resuscitation, choking suffocation, strangulation, breath holding, inhalation of fumes, asthma, croup, anaphylaxis, accident books, wounds, bleeding, shock, recognition and treatment of fractures, dislocation, strains and sprains, first aid kits, burns and scalds, electric shock, seizures, fainting, poisoning, head injuries, meningitis, diabetes, foreign, extremes of heat and cold, sickle cell - amongst other things. This is a two-day, 12 hour infant and childcare resuscitation training course, attendance is required for both days. Please ensure you wear suitable clothing, loose fitting trousers and trainers are advised. Aims: To examine emergency situations that may be faced by professionals looking after babies and children and to apply first aid in these situations. Safeguarding Intermediate and the Impact of Domestic Abuse Course Tutors: Helen Field Course Details: This one day course is designed to promote improved understanding of the roles and responsibilities of others and the ability to work together with regard to Safeguarding Children. Attendees need to have:

• An understanding of the nature of worries around children’s welfare and systems in place to safeguard from harm and promote welfare.

Delegates need to attend the half-day Safeguarding Children workshop before this course, as it will explore some of the concepts in further detail. E-learning basic awareness is an alternative prior to the workshop. It can also be used as a refresher for those who have done previous training. Safer Recruitment Course Tutor: Helen Field Course Details: This one day course is based on an understanding of offender behaviour to: identify key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people. Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting. This course will help participants to begin to review their own organisations policies and procedures in recruitment with a view to making them safer. Safer Recruitment training should be updated at least every 5 years. It is mandatory for someone sitting on the recruitment panel within schools to have done safer recruitment training. It is also useful for governors and early years settings. This training will be delivered by a Lucy Faithfull accredited trainer. Mental Health is often hidden, not just because you cannot 'see' it, but because children themselves hide their feelings and emotions. It is much more prevalent than you may think. The National Office of Statistics states that 1 in 10 children may suffer from a mental health issue. The sad thing is that over 70% of these children are not picked up and referred onto further services. This is an essential course for anyone working with children & young people. Learn how to recognise the signs and symptoms, understand the difference between worry/anxiety and a diagnosable mental health disorder. Know what to do and how to respond to individuals. Learn how to help individuals cope with stress and anxiety and learn how to encourage children to try self-help techniques. Know when the child needs to be passed on to external experts. Mental Health is hidden but is the most prevalent disorder in the UK with more children being affected daily! Learning Outcomes:
