Wadding and backing 62” x 62”
Use ¼" seam allowance throughout. Press all seams open unless otherwise noted

CUTTING
1. From fabric 1 cut:24 x 3½" H x 10¼" W

MAKING UP BLOCK 1
Lay out fabric pieces for your block and sew in rows
Next sew the rows together to complete the block
Sew 13 in total
Cut 45º angles from top right
and left corners
Cut 45º angles from top right
and left corners
Lay out fabric pieces for your block and sew in rows
MAKING UP BLOCK 2
Lay out fabric pieces for your block and sew in rows
Sew 12 in total
Place the blocks as in the main diagram and sew in rows
Then sew the rows together to complete quilt centre
Next sew the border strips, sides and then the top and bottom
COMPLETION
Quilting
Sandwich quilt top, wadding and backing together. Quilt by hand or machine as desired. Trim backing and wadding to size
Binding
Use your favourite method from fabric 2 to bind the quilt

Sew the strip of fabrics 1 and 4 together along the length, do this to all three strips. Sew 2 and 3 as before, press
Now cut 2½" x 4½" strips, 48 in total
OUTER BORDER BLOCKS

Sew the strips together to make the block
Now add the strip 1½" x 4½" of fabric 5. As in the main diagram, all four borders are made up in the same way
So, on the border strips, 24 will have the strip at the top and 24 at the bottom
Sew the blocks together and on two of the strips add the 5½" x 5½" of fabric 5 to each end
Stitch the border strips to the quilt, the two short strips and then sew your last two to the quilt
