Coming this Summer
Anheuser-Busch Division Seasonal Offerings
Coming this Summer: Radeberger Pilsner 11.2oz NR 4/6. Call us obsessive
if you must, but we’ve spent the past 140 years focused on one thing alone –
combining soft, pure water, the choicest hops, and pale malted barley to
create the finest German Pilsner the world has ever known. No expense was
too great, no hurdle too high in pursuit of ―Pilsner Perfection‖. Take our
water – even the fabled waters of Bohemia, previously used to brew Pilsner,
were insufficient to satisfy our more exacting standards. After transporting
2,500 liters over the Ore Mountains to our hometown of Radeberg, the water
was unceremoniously dumped into our flower beds once it dawned upon us
that spring water from our nearby serene forests afforded us the precise
smoothness to thrill refined palates. Others have come and gone – adding this
and that to their brews in pursuit of fickle fashion. We, however, see
compromise as the enemy and stick to what we’ve always done best. Given how
long we’ve been around, we trust you’ll agree we must be doing something
right. No wonder we are the oldest German Pilsner still delighting the
world’s most discerning taste buds today.

straight from the bottle

Light, Balanced & Easy Going Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish.
Set Sail for Adventure Take a sip of this copper-colored India Pale Ale and you’ll taste bold, citrusy hops with a touch of tropical mango and passion fruit, balanced by the rich caramel malts. Castaway IPA has a clean, crisp finish that’s as refreshing as the wind in your face when you set sale for adventure.

Alberta Clipper Sweeps Across GLBC Markets The end of March had many around the brewery questioning if Mother Nature
had forgotten that April is supposed to bring showers of rain, not snow.
Thankfully, her long, bitter winter has bid us adieu just in time for the perfect
brew to send it on its way, Great Lakes new seasonal Alberta Clipper Porter.
Named for the rough winter storms that were all too familiar in 2015, this
creamy, slightly bittersweet porter is brewed with Belgian dark chocolate and
fresh raspberries that help us savor the sweet reward of spring’s rising
temperatures. And let’s be honest. After shoveling out this year’s snowpack, we
all deserve one… or maybe an entire 4-pack.

Brewery News and Happenings
―If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.‖ When we first announced our first ever brand refresh last fall, we heard that comment
more than a few times from our customers, and even a few co-workers. But as we gradually shared more previews of our
beautiful new labels and let our customers in on more details of this all-consuming process, we started hearing that less
and less.
From the start, we’ve preferred the term ―refresh‖ over ―rebrand‖ because we know we’ve got a lot of equity in our
logo and individual labels, and we didn’t want to walk away from that legacy. For us, it was all about finding a balance be-
tween classic and contemporary, the same way we do with our brand portfolio. We knew we could better tell the stories
behind each one of our brands by introducing a cleaner, brighter, and overall more consistent look. And we wanted to do
that while celebrating our history, and taking care to preserve the key elements in each label.
Our friends at Brokaw Inc. understood that, and helped us to naturally evolve our logo into a cleaner, more versatile
take on the original. We kept a single golden wave to represent our commitment to water conservation and
sustainability. We kept a golden hop cone to show the pride we take in brewing high-quality beer with premium
ingredients. Of course, we maintained a nod to Cleveland, our beloved hometown. To show our customers that we’ve been
around the brewhouse for a few years, we added ―Est. 1988‖ in celebration of how far we’ve come.
Brokaw also helped to connect us with Darren Booth, the talented and acclaimed illustrator behind each one of our new,
hand-painted labels. Darren visited us at the brewery to immerse himself in our culture, and worked with us every step
of the way while helping us to better tell the stories of each of our brands through beautiful, textured paintings.
We supplied Darren with artifacts and clippings from GLBC history, and many of these pieces are incorporated into our
new label artwork. For instance, our Conway’s Irish Ale is named for owners Pat and Dan’s grandfather, whose
Ireland-to-U.S.A. immigration papers are now collaged into our new Conway’s label. It’s touches like this that will allow
us to connect with customers on a deeper level, and show them just how rich our history is.
We love brewing consistent, award-winning beer, but our stories, culture, and craftsmanship help to set us apart from
the crowd. We’re thrilled that the quality of our new packaging—in terms of both construction and design—will now
parallel the quality of the beer inside. It wasn’t ―broken,‖ but we relished the opportunity to make our brand even
better.

Coors Light Gets New Look The Coors Light packaging changes will downplay the Silver
Bullet's "cold-activation" gimmick in favor of messaging that
plays more on the brand's heritage as being "born in the
Rockies." The packaging will also note the brand's 1978
founding year.
For Coors Light, the red Coors script looks similar, although
"Light" uses a slimmer font and is black rather than white.
The biggest change, according to an image shown to Ad Age,
is that the front of the bottles no longer tout "2-stage cold
activation" that refers to mountain images on the bottle
turning blue when the brew reaches a certain cold
temperature. However, the mountains will still turn blue
when the beer is cold, a spokesman said. And secondary
packaging will plug the beer as "cold lagered," "cold-filtered"
and "cold packaged" beer.
