2mfm Relocates to Chestehill

The Muslim Community Radio is a multicultural multilingual and a multi-award winning Islamic radio station that broadcasts in Sydney and streams live internationally via the 2MFM website. The radio station targets the Islamic community in Sydney but has amassed thousands of listeners nationally and internationally. The radio station first started broadcasting twenty-four hours a day during the month of Ramadan in 1995 and currently broadcasts year round 24 hours a day.

The home of the radio station for the past 20 years has been Marion Street Bankstown, but at the beginning of this year in January, 2MFM relocated to the Salamah Complex in Chesterhill. This move was not an

easy one for staff, volunteers and our listeners who had become attached to our office and studios in Bankstown. Many of our memories were in that location and saying goodbye after such a long time was not easy.

Nevertheless, we cherish the wonderful experiences that we had and are now looking forward to a new chapter in the 2MFM story. From our new location in Chesterhill, 2MFM will continue its great work in serving the Muslim community and expand our reach to all communities and listeners. 2MFM would also like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and volunteers who helped the radio station move from Bankstown and Chesterhill.

Isra’ and Mi^raj The Isra’ and Mi^raj is one of the many miracles of Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him. This miracle is about prophet Muhammad’s night journey, by body and soul, from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid

al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, and the ascension of the Prophet to the seventh skies.

On Prophet Muhammad’s journey from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, Allah enabled him to see some of His wondrous creations.

After the Prophet took this night journey from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, he ascended to the upper heavens. In the Heavens he saw some of the Prophets whom Allah sent to the nations before the nation of Prophet Muhammad. They all welcomed him and made supplication (du^a’) for him for good things. Prophet Muhammad went beyond the seven skies and witnessed what Allah has prepared for the inhabitants of Paradise. He witnessed the throne (^arsh), and he heard the Kalam of Allah, which does not resemble our speech.

Commemoration of the Isra’ and Mi^raj

With “Muhammad a mercy to the world”as the motto of this year, 2mfm had the opportunity to participate in the Commemoration of the Isra’ and Mi^raj, which took place on the 7th of May 2016 at

the Grand Hall in Liverpool. The event featured a beautiful Qur’anic recitation and entertained by the ICPA chanting group. 2MFM had the pleasure of broadcasting the event as well as providing community members with a CD copy of the celebration.
