Important Information

Cleaning the screen and the cabinet...

After turning off the power, clean the screen and the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. Werecommend that you do not use any proprietary polishes or solvents on the screen orcabinet as this may cause damage.

Disposal...

The cold cathode fluorescent lamp in the LCD panel contains a small amount of mercury,when the set reaches the end of its useful life please dispose of it in accordance withLocal Government Regulations or at a recycling centre.

The LCD display panels are manufactured using an extremely high level of precision technology,however sometimes some parts of the screen may have missing picture elements or have luminousspots. This is not a sign of a malfunction.

Safety instructionsRead all the safety instructions before first use of your TV.!

• Position the television so that direct light does not fall onthe screen. Excessive light will cause a washed out effect.

• Position the power supply lead and other leads so thatthey are not likely to be walked on or pinched by thingsplaced on or against them.

• Do not place objects filled with liquid such as vase orflower pot near the television.

• Do not expose the TV to dripping or splashing of liquids.

• Do not place naked flame sources such as lighted candleson the TV set.

• Make sure that no naked flame sources, such as lightedcandles, are placed on top of the appliance.

• The heat built up in the set escapes through ventilationholes, so do not cover the set by drapes, clothes etc. that mayblock air circulation. Do not place the television on carpetor soft furnishings.

• Clean the TV Screen using a slightly damp cloth or chamoisleather. Never use abrasive cleaning agents like liquid oraerosol cleaners.

• Your TV set is designed to operate with the adapter provided 12V DC.-4,5A.

• Do not place the television near heat sources such asradiators, ovens, stoves, etc.

• NEVER let children push anything into the holes or slotson the case.

• Remove the mains plug from the socket outlet while cleaning.

• Do not push, hit or screw the screen of your product.

• Use the adaptor supplied with the product. Never connectany other power sources to the product.

• Never apply pressure on the screen when cleaning.

• Never put your screen on hard objects. Your TFT screenmay be damaged.

Getting startedRemove your Television carefully from the box.You may wish to store the packaging for futureuse.

Please NoteWhen not in use disconnect the plug from themains power supply.

Please NoteDo not leave the television in standby unattendedor overnight.

Switching the TV on for the first timeTo install your TV, please read the sections“TV controls” and “ Tuning the television”.

4. Press the Power button on the sideof the TV. The standby indicator willilluminate.

5. Press a Numeric button or theProgram up or Program down buttonon the remote handset or Programup, Program down or MENU buttonon the front panel to switch the TVon.

The standby indicator remains on.The picture will appear after a fewseconds.

Press the Standby button to switch theTV to standby. The standby indicator willbrighten.

Please noteIf you live in a poor reception area or use anindoor aerial you may experience loss orcorrupt ion of te le tex t t ransmiss ions .

Switching on and First Use1. Connect the power cord to the mains adapter.2. Connect the input socket of the adapter to

the12 V DC socket at the back panel of theLCD TV.

3. Connect adapter to a suitable mains socket.

Note 1: Your TV will switch to stand-by modein five minutes when there is no broadcast signal.Note 2: Your TV is equipped to operate withfront panel buttons, “MENU”, “PR+”, “PR-”,“VOL+”, “VOL–” in case your R/C is broken orthe batteries are exhausted.

Inside the carton box you should have:• Accessories box• Power cord• Adapter• Remote control• BatteriesRead these instructions before use.

You can use an outdoor or indoor aerial.However, if you use an indoor aerial the qualityof the reception may be reduced and adjustmentof the aerial may be required when changingprograms.

To connect an aerial, plug the aerial leadinto the aerial socket on the rear of theTV.

The batteriesRemove the remote back cover to reveal thebattery compartment and make sure you insertthe batteries the right way round.

Suitable battery types for this remote areUM-4, IEC R03 or AAA 1.5V.

Do not throw your old batteries into a fire, disposeof them in a designated disposal area.

Do not combine a used, old battery with a newone or mix battery types.

The performance of the remote control willdeteriorate beyond a distance of 8 metres oroutside an angle of 30 degrees from the centreof the TV.

Using the TVTurning on for the first time and TuningTV controlsStand-By mode

Programme selectionPress the Program up/Program downbuttons on the TV or on the remotecontrol or press a Numeric button toselect a programme.

To mute the sound press the Mute buttonon the remote control. A loudspeakersymbol will appear on the screen.

Press the Volume + or Volume - buttonon the TV or the Vol or Vol buttonon the remote control. A sound levelbar will appear on the screen.

You can also select a program bypressing the Yellow button to see the Program Table.

To select a programme whose numberis greater than 9 using the numericbuttons, press the -/-- button first andthen press the two Numeric buttons. For example, to select programme12, press the -/- button followed by1 then and 2.

Use the Program up and Programdown buttons to scroll through theprogramme numbers. When youfind the program number you wantpress the OK button.

Press the TV/TX button to close theProgram Table.

Please Note: If you will not use your TV fora long period, do not leave it on Stand-Bymode, instead switch it off from the powerbutton on the side panel of the TV set.

When your TV is working, press thered “STAND-BY” button on the rightupper corner of your remote controlto switch off and the Stand-By indicator(Led) will be brighter. To turn on yourTV again, press the numeric buttons,or Program up or Program down.

Press the Mute button again to restorethe sound. The symbol will disappear.

Pressing Volume up button will alsorestore the sound.But pressing the Volume downbutton will decrease the volumewithout restoring. PPPersonal preference. Press the PPbutton to revert to the default settingsfor the TV. (See TV setup).

Swap

Tuning the televisionThere are two ways of tuning your television:Manual, where you control the tuning processor Autoprogram where the television does itall automatically.

This function will automatically tune name andarrange programs found in the followıng order.

Please NoteIf the TV is set to a channel with no signal theTV will return to standby in 5 minutes.The last minute remaining is displayed onthe screen.

Automatic tuning (Autoprogram)There are two ways to access the SETUPmenu:

Press the blue Setup button. Or Pressthe Menu button and use the Programdown button to select SETUP. Press theOK button to enter the SETUP menu.

Your TV has 2 scarts so each time youpress your AV button, your input willchange as follows:

Press the AV button again to returnto TV mode.

1 AV1 when using SCART socket 1(RGB support).

2 AV2 when using SCART socket 2.3 AV3 when using the phono sockets

of the TV.4 AVS when using the S-video socket.

When you are sure the aerial isconnected properly press the OK button.Autoprogam will start.

Use the Program down button to selectAUTOPROGRAM and then the OKbutton. A list of countries will appear.Select (UK) using Program and Volumebuttons.

To cancel Autoprogram whilst it isworking press the Menu buttonrepetitively.

Please note:If auto sort fails to arrange the programmes inthe required sequence please refer to programmeorganising.

In the Setup menu se lec tPROGRAM No. using the Programdown button and use the Volumeup button to change the ProgramNo to 01.

Starting with Program 01, tunein the first channel as follows:

Use the Program down button toselect SEARCH.

Press the Volume up or Volumedown button to start the tuningsearch.

When the search finds a strongchannel signal i t wil l s topsearching. The picture will appear.

Use the Program down button toselect PROGRAM No.

Use the Volume up/down ornumeric buttons to select thedesired programme number.

Use the Program down button toselect STORE. Press the OK buttonand STORED will appear on theSTORE line.

You have now stored the firstchannel.

Use the Program up button toselect again SEARCH andcontinue the tuning procedureuntil you have tuned in all theprogrammes you want or thetelevision can receive.

Manual tuningIf you want to tune manually:

Please noteIf you do not press any buttons for 15 secondsthe TV will exit the menu system.

As Autoprogram stores a channel it willappear briefly on the screen before thesearch continues.

Tuning with channel numbersEnter the SETUP menu by pressingthe blue button.

To exit the SETUP menu press the TV/TXbutton.

In the SETUP menu use the Programup/down buttons to select FINETUNING. Use the Volume up/downbuttons to fine tune.

When you have finished use theProgram down button to selectSTORE and press the OK button.

Press the OK button when CHANNELrow is blue.

Use the OK button to select “S” forcable channels and “C” for terrestrialbroadcast.

Enter the channel number using theNumeric buttons or use theVolume up/down buttons to tunechannels.

Use the Program down button to selectPROGRAM NUMBER.

Use the Volume up/down or numericbuttons to select the desiredprogramme number.

Use the Program down button to selectSTORE. Press the OK button andSTORED will appear on the STOREline.

You have now stored the first channel.

Use the Program up button to selectagain CHANNEL and continuethe tuning procedure until youhave tuned in all the programmesyou want or the television canreceive.

Fine tuningAlthough the search and Autoprogramwill automatically try and tune to thebest reception, in areas of poor receptionfine tuning may be required.

Program organisingOnce you have tuned in all the channels youwant, you can change their programmenumber, if required, and name them.

To enter the PROGRAM TABLE menupress the Menu button and selectPROGRAM TABLE and press the OKbutton or press directly the Yellowbutton.

The buttons used to edit the programs areshown at the bottom of the display:

Please Note1. Some TV channels may send their

names with teletext transmission. In thiscase their names will be automaticallyshown on the name line.

To name the programmes

Press the Blue button again to storethe name.

Repeat this process to name all theprogrammes.

You can name the programmes andAV inputs.Press the Blue button, the selectedprogramme will be highlighted.

Use the Program up and Programdown buttons to select the lettersand numbers and the Volume up andVolume down buttons to movethrough the name.

Select the programme you want tomove and press the Green button.The programme will turn toyellow.Select the number you wantto move to and press the Greenbutton again the programme willbe moved to that number.

All the following programmes willbe shifted down by one place.

To skip programmes

Skipped programmes will notappear when you move throughthe program l is t using theProgram up/Program downbuttons. They can still be selectedusing the numeric buttons or theOK button.Select the programs you want toskip and press the Red button. Theprogram will turn red. To unskipthe program press the Red buttonagain.To exit the PROGRAM EDITpress the TV/TX button once orthe Menu button twice.When you select a programme,the information you entered in thePROGRAM EDIT menu will appearon the top of the screen i.e. P1BBC1. This will disappear afterabout three seconds.

To delete a programmeTo delete a programme, select itand press the Purple button. Theprogramme will be deleted.

All the following programmes areshifted up by one position.

You can move the programmes around theprogramme list to get the order you want

Set a default volume level using the Volumeup and down buttons.

To save your settings, select STOREand press the OK button, STOREDwill be displayed. Press the Menubutton to go back to the previousmenu.

BalanceSet the sound balance level usingthe Volume up and down buttons.

To save your settings, select STOREand press the OK button, STOREDwill be displayed. Press the Menubutton to go back to the previousmenu.

Sound typeThis item shows STEREO when receivingstereo transmission and MONO for monotransmissions.

If the channel you are watching is in Nicamstereo the On Screen Display will showNICAM STEREO for a while.

TV set upThe TV set up is accessed through the menusystem.

Once you have stored your set up, this is theset up the TV will default to when you switchon.

To enter the MAIN menu press theMenu button.

Once in the MAIN menu use theProgram up and Program downbuttons to select items in the menu andthe OK to access sub menus or use thecoloured fastext buttons for quickaccess.

Please noteIf you do not press any buttons for 15 secondsthe TV will exit the menu system.

Please NoteIf, while watching a nicam stereo channel,the signal strength drops and the systemcannot receive nicam stereo the OSD willshow MONO. If the signal strength increasesagain and nicam stereo can be receivedagain, the OSD will show NICAM STEREO.

Select the required item in the menuusing the Program up/down buttonsand make the changes by pressingthe Volume up/down buttons. Use theOK button to enter headphone fromthe main menu.

Equalizer

In this menu there are a series of presetequalizer settings for different types of soundoutput.

There are four music settings - MUSIC, SPORTS,CINEMA, SPEECH andUSER1 & USER2 modes.

MUSIC, SPORTS, CINEMA, SPEECH arefactory presets.

USER modes allow you to set your ownsound outputs as follows:

To access the 5 band equalizer menupress Program up or down button and press OK on the Equalizer line.

Press the OK button to enter theEQUALIZER menu.Use the Program down button toselect USER1.Press the OK button to adjust thefrequency band levels.Use the Volume up button to selectthe KHz column you want to change.

Use the Program up/down buttonsto make the changes.

To save your settings, press the OKbutton.Press the Menu button togo back to the previous menu.

Press the sound Smart control to scrollthrough the different equalizer settingsand select the one you want.

Once you have switched the TV off theequalizer setting will revert to the storedsetting.

HeadphoneYou can set up the volume, balance, basstreble and sound type (stereo or mono)of the headphone output.Use the OK button to enter the HEADPHONEmenu.

To save your settings, select STOREand press the OK button. STOREDwill be displayed. Press the Menubutton to go back to the previousmenu display.

Sound mode

Select sound mode using Program up/downbuttons. You can select NORMAL or SPATIALwith Volume up/down buttons.

SPATIAL sound is an ‘expanded stereo’. It givesthe impression that the two speakers in theTV are further apart than they really are.

Select AVL using Program up/down buttons.TV transmitters have different sound levels.AVL (automatic volume limiting) maintains thesame sound level as you switch from programto program.To apply this press Volume up or downbutton and select ON for AVL in SoundFeatures menu.

You can also adjust the settings of USER2by the same method.You can change the equalizer setting whilstwatching the TV using the sound Smart controlon the Remote control.

Features Menu (Purple button)To select Features menu press themenu button and using the Programup and down buttons select Features.

You can also select the Features menudirectly by pressing the purple buttonon the remote control.

The Features menu allows you to setup the following:

Use the Program up and downbuttons to select the feature youwish to change and use the Volumeup and down buttons to adjust thisfeature.

Picture menu (Green button)

The picture menu allows you to set up thefollowing:BRIGHTNESSCONTRASTCOLOURSHARPNESSSMART CONTROLand NOISE REDUCTION

To change, for example, the colour,select it using Program up and downbuttons.

Use the Volume up and Volumedown buttons to change the setting.

To save your settings, select STOREand press the OK button. STOREDwill be displayed.

These settings are stored as USERpicture type.

You can change the picture type whilstwatching the TV using the picture Smart tocontrol.

Press the picture Smart control toscroll through the different picturetypes and select the one you want:SOFT, NATURAL, RICH or USER.

NOISE REDUCTION: You can reduce the noiseeffects in the pictures by selecting ON.

To save your settings, select STOREand press the OK button. STOREDwill be displayed. Press the Menubutton to go back to the previousmenu.

Language: You can select one of the 16languages by pressing the OK button inthe language selection.Timer: Use Program up and down buttonsto select Timer in the features menu. Usingthe Timer fuction, you can switch to aspecific programme at a pre-programmedtime or you can turn your TV off at thetime you want your TV to be turned off.Press OK to access the Timer menu.

ON TIMER: Use the numeric buttons to setthe time that you want your TV to be turnedon and programme number.Switch the TV to Stand-by mode.OFF TIMER: Use the numeric buttons to setthe time that you want your TV to be turnedoff into Stand-by mode.Note: It is not possible to switch to TV Onand Off at predetermined times using thetimer.

Picture format

4:3, conventional TV picture format.

16:9, this is the screen format of yourTV setThe TV will automatically switch to thisformat if it detects 16:9 format from theSCART inputs.

Child Lock: Using the Child Lock,you can lock any Program youwant so that adult channelscannot be watched by children.You can cancel child lock anytime you want. To cancel ChildLock, select Child Lock as OFF,ON that program.

Clock: Use the numeric buttonsto set the real time.Note: If you enter any channelwith teletext transmission, clockwill automatically set to real time.Background: You can adjust themenu background as ON orOFF.

To exit the sub-menu press theMenu button and return to themain menu.

Press the 16:9 button to pagethrough the different picture formatsand select the one you want. Theselected format will appear on thelower right side of the screen fora short while.

Once you have switched the TV offthe picture format will revert to 16:9.

No on screen display is available in text mode.The contrast, brightness and colour cannot bechanged but the volume control is still available.

Make sure the TV channel you are watchingtransmits teletext. If not NO TEXT sign willbe shown on the screen.

Press the TV/TEXT button. The textpage will appear, normally the indexpage.

Press the TV/TXT button. The screenwill return to the channel you werewatching.

Find the number of the page in theindex and enter it using the Numericbuttons. The number of the page willappear in the top left hand corner ofthe screen.

The page counter will search for yourpage. When it finds it, the page willbe displayed.

To move to the next page of text pressthe Program up button.

To move to the previous page pressthe Program down button.

To return to the index page press theP100 button.

To view a TV programme whilst intext mode, press the MIX button.The text will be superimposed overthe TV programme.

Press the MIX button again to returnto the text page.

If you have difficulty reading thetext on the TV you can double theheight of the text.

Press the Double height button.The top half of the page will bedisplayed in double height text.

Press the Double height buttonagain. The bottom half of the pagewill be displayed in double heighttext.

Press the Double height buttonagain to return to the full page.

Teletext is an information system that displaystext on your TV screen. Using the teletextcontrol buttons you can view pages ofinformation that are listed in the teletext index.

In Text mode press the Updatebutton. The TV will return to TVmode with the text page numberin the top left hand corner of thescreen.

Enter the page number you wantusing the Numeric buttons.

The top line of the text page willappear whilst the text searches foryour page. When the page isfound the number will remain inthe top left hand corner of thescreen.Press the Update button to viewyour selected page of text.

Page Stop

If the page of text you have selectedcontains sub pages, these sub pageswill automatically be displayed inorder with a delay to allow you toread the page.

To stop the move to the next sub pagepress the STOP button. STOP willappear in the top left hand corner.

To continue moving through the subpages press the STOP button again.

To select a sub pageIf the page of text you are viewingcontains sub pages, the number ofthe sub page you are on and the totalnumber of sub pages is displayed onthe right of the screen i.e. 1/7.

To select a sub page press the SUBbutton. Press the green button to selectnext sub-page or press the red buttonto select the previous sub-page.

Enter the number of the sub page,using the Numeric buttons in theformat S0001 for sub page 1.

The teletext will search for the subpage. This may take some time. Toreturn to the TV whilst the teletext issearching press the Update button.

When the page number is found itwill appear in the top left hand cornerof the screen.

Press the Update button again to viewthe text page.

To reveal information

Press the Rev button to revealconcealed information (quizanswers etc.).

Press the Rev button again toconceal the information again.

ClockPress the Sub button, whilstwatching a TV program , todisplay the time.

Press sub button again to canceltime display.

Fast textAt the bottom of the teletext screen is arow of subject headings in red, greenyellow and blue.

The remote control has a row of colouredbuttons corresponding to the row ofcoloured subjects on the screen.

Pressing one of the coloured buttons willtake you direc t ly to the pagecorresponding to the subject heading.

Connecting a video recorder

Make sure the TV and video recorder are bothswitched off.Plug one end of the SCART lead (not supplied)into the back of the video recorder and theother end into one of the SCART sockets on theback of the TV.

Switch on the video recorder and the TV.

Please note:You can connect RGB external equipmentvia Scart. It is necessary to you use a full Scartcable for this purpose.

Select the video output of the external deviceby referring to its operation instructions.

Make sure the TV and video recorder areboth switched off.

Plug one end of the Phono lead into thevideo and audio out sockets on the back ofthe video recorder and plug the other endinto the video and audio in sockets of theTV.

If the sound is mono, use the Audio Input L.and in the SOUND menu select the MONOfeature.

Via aerial socket

Make sure the TV and video recorder areboth switched off.

Unplug the aerial lead form the TV andplug it into the aerial socket on the videorecorder.

Plug a coaxial plug into the RF out socketon the rear of the video recorder and plugthe other end into the aerial socket on theTV.

Switch on the video recorder and the TV. Ifyour video recorder has a test signal, switchit on. (Refer to the video recorder userguide).

See ‘Tuning the TV’ and carry out the tuningprocedure for the video recorder test signal.Select a programme number 0.

You can also connect it through theS-Video socket of the TV.

Plug the S-Video plug into the S-Videosocket and the audio leads into the audiosockets.

Connecting a decoderVia SCARTMake sure the TV and decoder are bothswitched off.

Plug one end of the SCART lead (notsupplied) into the back of the decoder andthe other end into the SCART on the backof the TV.

Switch on the decoder and the TV.

INTRODUCTION

Because your 17”16:9 LCD-TV equipment is provided with VGA inputs, it may be usedas a PC monitor as well. (Pug&Play).A time delay is present during changing from TV to PC mode this is normal and not afault.

Entering the PC Mode

1. Plug one end of a VGA Lead to the computer monitoroutput and the other end to the VGA input on the back ofthe TV.

2. To enter the LCD-TV into the PC monitor mode, press the“MIX(TV-PC)” button on your remote control. Each time the“MIX(TV/PC)” button is presed, operation changes from thePC mode, to TV mode. In addition, you may return to theTV mode by selecting the “TV SELECTION” option from themonitor menu, or press and hold the AV button on the TV.

Note 1: When the system is in the monitor (PC) mode, thesound from the TV channel selected may be heard from thespeakers. When you enter this mode, the sound controlbuttons on the remote control. (“VOL ”/“VOL “MUTE)become functional.Note 2: When the system is in the monitor mode, theSTANDBY button is operational. Upon exit from STANDBY,the system starts up in the TV mode again.

AUTO CONFIG : Allows the entry of optimum geometrical adjustments based on the input mode

INFORMATION : Displays the input mode information on the screen.

MISCELLANEOUSYou may enter the factory default settings, Menu position and duration on the screen, resolutionsettings etc. by selecting the MISCELLANEOUS option.FACTORY RESET : Loads the factory default settingsOSD TIMEOUT : The on-screen timeout may be adjusted to a value between 5 - 60 seconds.OSD POSITION : Used for adjust ing the OSD Horizontal and Ver t ical posi t ionNATIVE MODE : Displays the input cursor in its actual resolution

TV SELECTION : To change from Monitor mode to TV mode

GAMMA : Correction of linear RGB data to compensate for non-linear response of TFT display.

MOIRE : Correction of distortions giving an image of the picture lines superimposed over one another.

SAVE : Stores the settings entered.

NOTE: The user can store the geometrical adjustments (H-Position, V-Position) entered for 6 differentinput graphic modes. When the Autoconfig is performed, the settings provided for that mode arestored, therefore, activating the Autoconfig function each time the mode is changed, is not necessary.When the user stores the settings for a 7th mode, the first mode stored will be erased

Warning Messages1. No SYNC: The VGA input code (resolution) is missing, the "NO SYNC" message appears on thedisplay. The message stays on the screen for 30 seconds and if no other VGA input signal that issupported by the system is not provided within that period, the system will go to "POWER SAVING"mode in order to protect the LCD panel. In this mode, the display will turn off, but the sound fromthe selected tuner channel will be audible

2. Input Not Supported: The input code (resolution) is not a supported graphics mode, the message"INPUT NOT SUPPORTED" appears on the display. The message stays on the screen until a supportedgraphic input code is received.

Important Warning:

1 . When the system changes from TV mode to VGA mode for the first time, the sound fromthe speakers is muted, but available through the ear-phones

2 . When a particular VGA mode is displayed for the first time, selecting the "Autoconfiguration"option may be necessary. The position adjustment as well as the H-Position and V-Positionfine adjustments must be entered and the values "saved (stored)"

3 . When the signal is cut off, depending on the VGA power-saving standard, the message"NO SIGNAL" is displayed on the screen for 30 seconds. At the end of this period, thesystem turns off, providing an energy saving of 30 watts.

The TV led will flash. To return to the TV mode press MIX (TV/PC) button or press and hold the AV button on the T.V.4. P.C. sound is not available as an option.

Help and service tipsThe TV does not workMake sure it is plugged into the mains supplyand switched on.

Poor picture• Is the aerial plugged in?• If you are using a set top aerial is it properly

aligned for the best signal.• Make sure the aerial is not to close to neon

lights, loudspeakers etc.• Try changing the direction of the outdoor

aerial. High buildings and mountains cancause ghost pictures or double images.

• The picture quality may be reduced byconnecting two external sources at once.Disconnect one of the sources.

No response to the remote control

• Try changing the batteries.• Is there an obstruction between the remote control and the sensor on the TV.

If nothing worksIf you have tried the above solutions and noneseem to work, try switching the unit off andon again.
