Abi Bell is orginally from Glossop in Derbyshire.She came to Hull in 1997 to study English andHistory at the university. After working for thethird sector and as a HR Advisor for an electricalretailer, Abi was elected to Hull City Council in2006 for Pickering Ward.

The Liberal Democrats have a strong presence in the urban areas ofEngland and Wales. We are running large cities, big budgets andtransforming our cities to make them vibrant and viable for the future. Ibelieve that the Lib Dem voice in our urban areas needs to be loud andco-ordinated as we become major players in our centres of industry.Many of us have decades of neglect and deprivation to overcome tomake sure that our areas thrive and are in the best possible position totake advantage of an economic upturn when it comes.

Abi has served on Corporate Scrutiny and joined Cabinet in 2007 asPortfolio Holder for Customer and Corporate Services and is now DeputyLeader of the Council with responsibility for Policy Development andImplementation.
