JOINT AERIE & AUXILIARY PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE Brothers & Sisters,

Wow September just flew by and we are already into the fall season. Tailgate Parties are in full swing this year. Thank you to all the chairmen who have volunteered to set up, clean up and host these tailgate Parties. Without you we would not be able to do them every football Saturday. Thank you as well to all that bring a potluck dish and help cheer on the Huskers. GBR!!

The annual vendor and craft fair was held on September 14th – sure hope you didn’t miss all the wonderful vendors, crafters, mini massages, military style haircuts & trims and of course the bake sale! Sharon & crew did a wonderful job with the entire day.

Don’t forget the 2nd Wednesday of each month is the Fiesta Night. This meal is growing every single month. We are still having growing pains, so please be patient with the kitchen. Our numbers have tripled in the 3 months since we've been offering the Fiesta menu—and the volunteers are doing their best to get it to you hot, fresh, and delicious! The 3rd Friday of each month is Steak Night. If you have not stopped in yet, you're missing a wonderful meal--Steak, baked potato, fresh corn on the cob, roll with butter and a dinner salad all for $11.00!

What a great turn out from Bellevue #3912 at the West Central Regional Conference in South Sioux City the weekend of September 20-21. This is a conference comprised of Nebraska and Iowa where we come together to share ideas, learn what is going on within the FOE and enjoy some good old fashion comradery.

September 28th was member appreciation day; the Aerie’s way of saying thank you to all our members and volunteers for your continued support and dedication to the Aerie and the FOE.

Mark your calendars for the annual Oktoberfest Dinner to be held on the 11th. Brats, sauerkraut, cabbage rolls, Bavarian carrots, marble bread and desserts. This is a meal you should not miss!

There will be a Halloween Party on the 25th. Stop in for dinner and enjoy a “goul”ash dinner and stick around for 3 & Out Band.

Several of our members and officers will be traveling in October to the Triathlon in Norfolk NE, Western Zone Conference in North Platte NE and Dart Tournament in Crete NE. These activities are not limited to just officers. If you have an interest in any of the conferences or sporting events, please contact your Aerie/Auxiliary secretary for more information. Pam Beiermann, Nebraska State Auxiliary President will be making her official visit on Tuesday October 1st. She will be attending a potluck hors de overs at 6:30 and the Auxiliary meeting at 7:30. We invite all sisters to attend the meeting and greeting our State Madam President. Please remember that this Aerie and Auxiliary cannot survive without our members and our volunteers. We encourage you to stop in and attend a meeting occasionally. Your voice and your vote do matter. If you have a question or an idea, please bring it to a meeting. We are always looking for new ideas and would be happy to answer questions if you have them. Continue to watch your newsletter and calendars for upcoming charity and other events.

Fraternally,

Larry Owens Barb Romero

Aerie President Auxiliary President

Nuts, Nuts, Nuts and Candy Sales Those Nutty Gals are at it again! Back are the sales of nuts and candies. You will see them available for purchase at meal functions (as allowed) and there will be order sheets available for you to take along to get possible orders to fill for yourself and friends. Proceeds from this year’s sales will help the State President’s Charity. Thank you in advance for your continued support. This year’s charities are the Foster Care and Child Abuse Clinic at Children’s Hospital and the Javelan Program.

The Foster Care and Child Abuse Clinic offers all services for the child that has been abuse or neglected. Many times if a child has to be placed in foster care, it is determined that

they have been without medical, dental, vision and/or mental health support. These services are provided all in one clinic. The Javelan Program provides service dogs to Veterans. This unique program trains the Veteran as well so if the service dog needs to be replaced, the Veteran can train the new dog themselves. It’s a program that is much less expensive to the dog owner than trying to obtain.

THANK YOU SECRET HELPERS

Thank you to all those dedicated members, who would prefer to remain nameless, for their continued support of the “behind the scenes” activities that help the Aerie operate. Your efforts are

appreciated more than words can say.

Annual Craft and Home-Based Business Fair – Success!

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this event such a success. The vendors were pleased with the space and with the opportunity to network and those attending enjoyed lunch as well as a bit of early holiday shopping. I have chaired this event for 16 years now and every year I am surprised at the wonderful level of volunteer support given to pull this Fair off without a hitch. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the volunteers, the vendors, the shoppers, and those who made donations to the best bake sale

ever! Those bake sale ladies sure know how to collect and sell the variety of cookies, cakes, breads and more! The overall proceeds will benefit a number of charities.
