Mummification • After death, Egyptians believed the body separated into

three parts: physical body, spirit (ka), & personality (ba).• Embalming was developed in 2600BC (preserving

human remains)• Very expensive, only the wealthy could afford it

• Once mummified, they would be buried in their tomb along with objects necessary for the afterlife
