Omega 2 and Omega Media AutoclaveThe Omega range from Prestige Medical are stylish, compact and fully portable electronic autoclavesbenefiting from a comprehensive range of features.

The Omega 2 has been designed to meet the requirements of the British Standard BS3970: Part 4:1990and is in full compliance with this standard. It has a sterilising cycle of 134ºC for 3 minutes.

The Omega Media is designed for sterilising culture and operates at 121ºC ±2ºC for a 22 minutesterilising period. It has an electronic mechanical interlock set to unlock the lid at a temperature of 80ºC.

Portable Electric AutoclavesThe Dixons range of portable autoclaves are designed for safety and reliability, yet remain easy to useand maintain. They are fitted with an automatic cut-out to prevent them boiling dry. Nexus 3028 Portable AutoclavesThe Nexus models are fully thermally insulated and portable. They are mounted on locking castors to alloweasy movement from site to site. The wipe clean keyboard and screen are situated on top of the lid. Thescreen has a resolution of 4 lines x 40 columns. The control system is user friendly with three keys to alterall the parameters of each cycle. Falcon 30 - Rectangular-Section Bench Top Autoclaves The Falcon 30 is available with a choice of uni-program or microprocessor control systems. The Uni-program system is ideal where the same cycle is repeated regularly. The operator simply keys in theparameters once. These parameters are then stored in the memory until altered. As an alternative, abrand new versatile multi-program control system has been introduced on the Falcon 30. Touchclave-R Touchscreen Multi-Program System Falcon and Osprey Touchclave-R autoclaves are equipped with a control system that incorporates apowerful PLC combined with an easy to use touchscreen, through which all commands, cycle data,program data and alarms are inputted and displayed.

This versatile system gives users a choice of selecting load-specific cycles from a menu or developingtheir own cycle profile. Eight cycles can be stored into the memory as standard and optional memoryexpansion is available to increase the number of available cycles to twenty.

Load Specific Cycles - are selected by pressing the appropriate ‘on-screen’ cycle title icon and thenfollowing the on-screen instructions. The cycles are pre-programmed to optimise air removal and coolingprofiles for each load type. Various parameters can be adjusted to suit the necessary application require-ments. There is also the option to change the cycle title.

Once the programs are stored in the memory, starting the cycle could not be easier. A cycle menu isbrought up on screen, allowing the required cycle to be selected. For those who need their cycles to betraceable, there is a facility to input operator ID and Batch information at this stage. There is also a facilityto program a delayed cycle start, which is particularly useful for maximising the use of the autoclave.During the cycle, information is constantly displayed on the touchscreen. Every stage of the cycle carriesa different information screen. A fully integrated thermal paper printer, tractor printer or chart recorderis available as an option, if a hard copy printout is required. It is possible to add internal data archiving asan option to all Touchclave-R Falcon and Osprey models.

On completing a successful cycle, the screen will show the ‘Passed’ display. If a fault occurs during thecycle, ‘Failed’ will be displayed on the screen, with details of the fault conditions highlighted on aseparate screen. This can be accessed by the operator but only acknowledged by those with a supervisoraccess code. All fault conditions will also be printed where applicable.

Osprey - Cylindrical Section Autoclaves Osprey autoclaves have cylindrical chambers and have been designed to the highest standards yet witheconomy in mind. These comprehensive and highly versatile ranges incorporate a wide variety of featuresto suit most requirements. Steam is generated by heating water in a reservoir within the chamber. Achoice of push button or fully automatic water-fill system can be fitted to most models, allowing thechamber to be topped up after each cycle either with or without operator intervention.

Options and AccessoriesVacuum System/Air Ballast Two ultra-efficient combined vacuum and air ballast systems for use on all Osprey models (except Osprey 40). By utilising a liquid ring vacuum pump, Osprey modelsfitted with this option can achieve vacuum levels of 200mbarA. A vacuum program is incorporated into the Touchclave-R control system, which provides a Pre-ster-ilisation pulsed vacuum stage for excellent air removal. In addition a post-sterilisation pulsed post-vacuum stage at the end of the cycle will assist with drying.

The optional enhanced vacuum system has been designed to offer improved levels of load dryness at the end of the cycle. The air ballast system is ideal whenprocessing sealed liquids, as it reduces the risk of container rupture and helps reduce overall cycle times.

115-165Touchclave-Lab “F” Series AutoclavesThe Touchclave-Lab range is provided with a host of features specifically designed to improve throughputand usability. LTE autoclaves are built to BS2646:1993, BS3970 and HTM2010 (optional). All pressurevessels comply with the European PED 97/23/EC and are independently tested to PD5500:2000 Cat 3along with other international standards.

LTE also supplies autoclaves to meet the requirements of many other standards and guidelines, includingHTM2031, EN285, cGMP and EN12347. Contact our Technical Office on 01342 826836 to discuss yourrequirements.

The Touchclave-Lab “F” models have been designed to offer a good level of standard features at a moreaffordable price. In this range, steam is generated within the chamber, therefore water inside thechamber needs to be topped up periodically, either manually or automatically. Low-level water sensorswill prevent the cycle from starting should there be insufficient water. All models are fitted with castorsand will fit through standard doors.

Key features include:

All “F” models fitted with a vacuum system must be connected to a suitable water supply and drain.

All models incorporate a fully interlocked vertical “easy-glide” sliding door. The door is prevented fromopening unless the safe load temperature has been reached and the pressure has dropped to atmospheric.

Touchclave Touch-screen systemsTouchclave-Lab autoclaves are equipped with a control system which incorpo-rates a powerful PLC combined with an easy to use touch-screen through whichall commands, cycle data, program data and alarms are inputted and displayed.

This versatile system gives users a choice of selecting from a menu of load-specific cycles or developing their own cycle profile. 8 cycles can be storedinto the memory as standard and optional memory expansion is available toincrease the number of available cycles to 20.

Load Specific Cycles - Load-specific cycles are selected by pressing theappropriate cycle title icon and then following the on-screen instructions. Thecycles are pre-programmed to optimise air removal and cooling profiles foreach load type. The only parameters which then require operator input are:sterilising temperature, hold time, safe load temperature, start/stop print andprint intervals. There is also the option to change the cycle title.

Developing Customised Cycles - Instead of a pre-programmed load-specificcycle users can develop a customised cycle profile by touching the “createown cycle” icon which will lead them through a series of easy to followscreens allowing the chosen parameters to be programmed before storingthem in any one of the available cycle number locations.

Once the programs are stored in the memory, starting the cycle could not beeasier. A cycle menu is brought up on screen, allowing the required cycle to beselected. For those who need their cycles to be traceable, there is a facility toinput operator ID and Batch information at this stage. There is also a facility toprogram a delayed cycle start which is particularly useful for maximising theuse of the autoclave. During the cycle, information is constantly displayed onthe touch-screen. Every stage of the cycle carries a different information screen.

Main features of Touchclave data archiving:

■ Cycle data and status are stored within the PLC controller. Dependenton the configuration, up to 5000 cycles may be recorded here. Theinternal storage medium is easily replaced either periodically or whenfull.

■ The recorded cycle data and status include “checksum” data to facilitate data validation.

■ A new cycle cannot be started until the data from the previous cyclehas been recorded.

As an option, cycle data may be downloaded to a remote personal computer,translated and formatted into HTML files and either printed or permanentlyarchived. During each transfer, the integral Touchclave checksum is verified,ensuring that the original data has not been corrupted or modified.

It is also strongly recommended that anautomatic leak rate cycle be included where Cat. 3 material is being processed.

Automatic Leak-Rate Cycle (Vacuum models) This cycle tests the air tightness of the chamber.

Printer Options Electronic data archiving is standard. However, for those who also want a hardcopy printout after each cycle the following options are available: Thermal Printout - This printer uses thermal paper which has a 15 year shelf life. Tractor Printer - The advantage of this printer is that it can be placed remoteto the autoclave. All “K” models incorporate a water tank, which re-circulates the cooling water until it reaches a pre-settemperature when it is then drained and replaced. This feature significantly reduces water usage duringthe cycle. A re-circulating exhaust condensate unit is fitted on all “K” models, enabling discharge watertemperatures to be kept below 70°C to avoid damage to plastic pipes and the environment. On vacuummodels this feature also serves to protect the vacuum pump from live steam.

AutoclavesPriorclaves are built and tested to exacting standards from the finest quality materials. They have all necessarysafety features such as thermal cooling locks with key override for safe door release temperatures.

Biocote anti-bacterial agent, effective against MRSA, is uniquely added to all epoxy coated surfaces ofall Priorclaves.

Heating and cooling rates are carefully balanced to optimise load heating and productivity. Temperatureand process times are easily set as the TACTROL™2 is a dedicated microprocessor system which allows theoperator greater flexibility in selecting their parameters. A 5 or 10 programme memory option is availablefor the busy laboratory that requires selectable programs to suit a variety of applications at the touch ofa button, but with three levels of security via a separate key-switch.

All Priorclave models are CE marked and independently certified to the European Pressure EquipmentRegulations, EMC and Low Voltage directives. All models are manufactured under an accreditedISO9000: 2000 quality system, are built to the relevant sections of BS2646 and PD5500: 2000 Cat3 andare compliant with BS EN 6 1010-2-041.

A full range of optional accessories is available, and most of these can be retro-fitted should you need toupgrade in the future. Models with vacuum are also available. Rectangular Front Loading Autoclaves Perfect for high volume throughput as well as large bulky items these autoclaves combine a hugeinternal capacity with a small footprint. Models are available for use with in-house steam supplies. Pre-cycle evacuation and fast-cycle drying are also available as options.

The models are equipped with all the features of the other autoclaves in the Priorclave range, plus thefollowing:

Automatic Timed Freesteaming Extends the standard ‘air-purging’ time to ensure thorough removal of air and thus improve temperaturedistribution within the load. Recommended for mixed volume media loads. A drain is required.

Rapid Cooling SystemIncreases the capacity of the autoclave by reducing the cooling time by up to 50%. The effectiveness ofa powerful axial fan is boosted by the unique Priorclave ‘one-pass’ airflow system. With two levels ofselectable operation, cooling is activated automatically either at the end of the process time or as theload temperature reaches 100°C (to reduce media volume loss).

Media Warming Fitted as standard on all autoclaves, this maintains the media overnight at a ‘ready to pour’ temperature- no more early morning starts to melt media.

Theresulting air-turbulence assists with air removal, improving temperaturedistribution and enhancing steam penetration. Recommended for discardloads. A drain is required. This option is retro-fittable.

Load Sensed Process TimingFor more efficient and precise sterilisation, an armour-coated wanderingprobe inside the Priorclave can be placed in the coolest part of the load.Only when that part of the load has reached the required pre-settemperature, will the process (sterilisation) time begin. Ideal for medialoads, where all bottles are of a similar size. This option is retro-fittable.

Pre-cycle Vacuum and Vacuum CoolingA vacuum pump ensures complete air removal from the load, giving bettertemperature distribution and improved steam penetration. Excellent fordiscard loads when used in conjunction with Pulsed Freesteaming.Vacuum cooling decreases cycle time. The 5 programme memory andpulsed freesteaming options are included as part of this system.

Post-cycle Vacuum Drying Recommended for porous loads such as dressings and labcoats and forsterilising glassware as it enables items to be removed ‘dry’ at the endof the cycle. Post-cycle vacuum drying must be used in conjunction withpre-cycle vacuum and vacuum cooling.

Exhaust FiltrationA high-efficiency microbiological filter removes contaminants from allair and steam leaving the autoclave.

Healthcare AutoclavesAutoclaves within hospital departments may be subject to specialrequirements to comply with the UK Health Service HTM2010 andother local regulations. Priorclave offer a basic HTM2010 compliancepackage including; mechanical cycle counter, setting lock keyswitch,self-monitoring by Tactrol™ 2 system, independent thermal lock andpressure gauge test port. ServicesDrainageBS2646 Part 2 states that autoclaves used for processing laboratorywaste should always be connected to a drain to prevent contaminatedsteam and condensate from fouling the laboratory. The drain pipeshould be connected to a sealed drain cover and a high level vent pipeshould be fitted discharging outside the laboratory. However, in thecase of loads other than waste, if no suitable drainage point is availablethen an open tundish or other container placed behind the autoclaveunder the outlet pipe should be sufficient. It should be noted that if anyform of freesteaming is required the unit should be connected to adrain to prevent steam being emitted into the laboratory.

Sterilclave Benchtop Laboratory AutoclavesThe Sterilclave 24 B and 24 BHD autoclaves are designed and manufactured in compliance with EN13060 and offer superior performance. They feature fractioned pulsed vacuum, suitable for the sterili-sation of solid, hollow (type A and B) and porous loads (fabrics), packed and unpacked. One of the mainfeatures of these units is their ability to sterilise loads at 134°C, thus making them suitable for use inveterinary laboratories and anywhere BSE-infected materials are being manipulated.

Two different types of access key allow programming via the user-friendly control panel. Using the blackkey, it is possible to select the standard sterilisation cycles, while using the white key, the ‘Special’ cyclecan also be selected and the user can program any parameter. The 24 B also features:
