BENEVOLENCE

BENEVOLENCE VS. SELFISHNESS

Giving to others basic needs without having as my motive

personal reward.

It is better to give then to lend, and it costs about the

same.

Benevolence is the ability to give without expecting something back. Most that don’t have a benevolent

heart will suffer by people owing them.

Old saying:

The Lord loves a cheerful giver, he also accepteth from

a grouch. In the world that we live in today, the only thing people will give you is advice. So my advice to you is to give with no strings attached and you will receive likewise.

Where there is no interest, there is no investment.

If our interest is people, we will invest in them by the

giving of ourselves to them.

How many of your interests have to do with blessing others and not

yourself?

Character check What is your motive for going to

work? Why do you go golfing? Why did you buy that vehicle? Why did you eat at that restaurant? Why did you help that person? Was it because it was what you wanted, or what they wanted?

Was it because it blessed them, or blessed you?

Remember

It is only benevolent when you don’t expect anything in return.

There are two very sensitive parts of the body:

1. The heart

2. The pocket book

Both are closely related, if you touch one, you will more than likely touch the other.

Don’t give until it hurts, give until it feels good!!!

He who is only benevolent when asked is not benevolent at all.

To see someone in need and not have the heart to help is heartless.

To see someone in need and not have the means to help is helpless.

To see someone in need and can help, but don’t, is hopeless.

To see someone in need and do all that you can is heaven. For this is what God loves.

Benevolence in the home

Look for the need, not the want. Address the need without nothing in

return. What do you expect to happen out of

this deed? What are you teaching others by

these actions.

Expand your vision C.P.S.

Consider others at all times when being benevolent.

Practice every day doing something that is good for someone else without them knowing who it was.

Stay positive when things don’t go the way you want.

HELPS Make a decision in the morning who

you are going to be benevolent to. Try to help others be successful in

character. Try to discern the real need that

people have. Look for the outcome to see if you

helped or hurt. Give without expecting return.

How do we know what people really need?

1. Get to know the person, have a real relationship with people that you may help. (The better you know the person, the more you realize their need.)2. Check your resources, do your

homework on the matter. (sometimes it’s better to help a person take responsibility then to give money.)3. Pray and discern.

4. Ask yourself: “will it hurt them?” and if you think not, help.

Group

Pick someone for this day that you can change their day or even life by a simple deed of benevolence.

Share what this might accomplish without using names.

How might this change you? How might this change your home? How might this change society?
