First Club Meeting

Painting the Courtyard

Before the first meeting even happened, our

faculty adviser already planned an event! The

event was painting the courtyard. For a few years

now, the courtyard was just a big and desolate

outdoor space. But now, Mr. Ryan is fixing it up to

be a place where people can actually enjoy it.

At our first meeting, the attendance was over 50 members, both new and

old. We started off by introducing the officers, our guest, Arthur Bookstein

(Clackamas Key Club President), and had our advisers give an intro about

themselves with a small speech. Our Kiwanis adviser, Jim McAllister, gave a

strong and informative speech about the importance of Key Club and his

hopes for the upcoming year. Mike Ryan, our faculty adviser, also talked

about this upcoming year and how he'd do his best to contribute to our

club. It's his first year being our faculty adviser for Key Club. Welcome to the

family, Mr. Ryan! After the formalities were done, we gave a quick and

watered-down talk about how

Key Club works. You as a

member are apart of a division,

which makes up a district, and

creates Key Club International.

Thus you should never forget

that you are always a part of

something big!

He asked of us Key Clubbers to help paint and fix up the

walls. Slowly, the walls are becoming a relaxing blue

color, instead of the old white walls. Thank you Mr. Ryan

for allowing us to help paint the courtyard--Key Club

style! And also, thank you to Kim and Angel Le, Hoang

Duong, Yen Nguyen, Phuong Uyen Nguyen, Kien Tran,

and William for participating in this event.

Reminders

Sneak a Peek! Halloween’s coming up, so what’s Key Club going to do about it? We’re

going to do Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF. We’ll give you boxes to go trick or

treating with, but the difference is, you’ll be collecting money instead of

candy and sweets. When you Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF with Key Club, the

money will go to our district project, The Eliminate Project. That way, you’ll

not only save your teeth and health, you’ll also save mothers and babies

from Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT). You don’t have to dress up as a

super hero this Halloween to be one! There will also be a prize for whoever

raises the most, so give it a shot.

Aside from trick or treating, we’re going to be selling Eliminate

merchandise! The money will, of course, go to the Eliminate Project. This

brand of merchandise includes a bro tank, t-shirt, and

lanyard. Check it out!
