TESTING TIME HAS ARRIVED!!!May 5, 2011

Dear Families,Testing time has arrived! We will begin administering the state standardized tests(STAR), Tuesday, May to" . Teachers will be using the morning blocks oftime fortesting (8:30-10:30). This time needs to be uninterrupted to optimize studentconcentration. We ask your cooperation in ensuring that your CHILD ATTENDSSCHOOL EVERY DAY during the testing window. In addition, please do notschedule doctor or other appointments during our testing period. As always, inorder to reach your child during these testing hours, please go through the office.Here's how you can help your child be well prepared:

./ Arrive to school on time. Late students will need to do a make-up test on analternate day and this could impact their performance .

./ Make sure your child is well rested by getting to bed early and allowing adequatetime to get ready in the morning .

./ Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and brings a healthy snack toschool every day .

./ Talk to your child about how important it is they do their personal best on thesetests .

./ Provide a positive and supportive environment. Tell your child how much youappreciate the effort he/she puts into learning and that the test is their opportunityto "show what they know" .

./ Offer your child an extra hug and words of encouragement as she/he heads off toschool.

During the testing period, we will be assigning less homework in order to ensure anearly bedtime and to minimize stress.
