As an energetic and tech-savy global financial centre, Hong Kong presents itself as a major FinTech hub embracing new technologies. This year, Hong Kong has been named among the top three easiest places in the world to do business, maintained its status as the freest economy in the world and hosted a variety of summits bringing together officials, entrepreneurs and professionals from all over the world. Steadily striding ahead, Hong Kong’s unique position in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will bring forward long-term development opportunities for promoting sustainable growth in commerce, professional services, technology, tourism and culture. Louis NgLouis is a Hong Kong pianist and currently a second-year Master of Music student, majoring in Piano Performance at Royal College of Music. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University. Louis was under the tutelage of Dr Shu-Yuan Sophia Yang for his undergraduate degree, and is currently a student of Professor Ilya Kondratiev. He attained the Trinity College ATCL certificate in piano recital with Distinction at the age of 14 and LTCL with Distinction in 2018.

In 2017, Louis was selected to represent Hong Kong Baptist University at Bowling Green State University in the United States and studied with Dr Thomas Rosenkranz. In the US, he engaged in piano performances and recitals. Back in Hong Kong, he per formed in BAMS Fund-raising Concert for Myanmar. He gave his first lecture-recital and first solo piano recital in 2018.

Louis received various awards and scholarships. He was the first prize winner of International Music Competition London “Grand Prize Virtuoso” 2019. He has also received the HKBU Faculty of Arts Outstanding Achievement in 2016 and 2017 and the HKSAR Government Talent Development Scholarship.

Studying in London, Louis has been keen on public performances, including chamber music and piano solo. His Winds Piano Trio – Giocoso Trio was established in 2019. As a soloist, he gave 9 recitals in London last year.

Karen DaleyKaren is currently a second year Master of Performance student at the Royal College of Music, studying vocals under the tutelage of David Montague Rendall. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Karen star ted studying vocals with Miss Margaret Yim after she was admitted into the junior department of the HKAPA with full scholarships. During her time in Hong Kong, Karen represented Diocesan Girls’ School as a frequent prize-winner in competitions and participated in productions such as the Opera Hong Kong Summer School’s take on The Magic Flute and the Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra’s Christmas special, The Snowman and the Bear, playing Pamina and Tilly respectively. She also attended master classes, such as with renowned sopranos Renée Fleming in Hong Kong, Helen Donath in Salzburg and Norma Fantini in Italy. Whilst studying for her A-levels in the UK, Karen was given the opportunity to sing as a choral scholar at Wymondham Abbey where she served as their soloist on multiple occasions.

Recently, Karen performed the role of Dorinda in Handel’s Orlando, Cis in Britten’s Albert Herring, Giannetta in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore as part of the Royal College of Music Opera Scenes, and Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro in Italy. In 2020, Karen will be performing the role of Serpina in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona.
