This year we will again be expressing our appreciation of all those community members and inviting the Bert Oldfield Public School community to a morning tea after our Presentation Day service. We will acknowledge all our classroom helpers, Scripture teachers, as well as our hardworking P&C members, Hub parents, drivers, as well as all community members that have contributed to the life of the school across 2017. We love the additional help and support offered by our parents and community members. It is a vital part of our school and our educational programs and strongly encourage you to become involved in the school in 2018. BOOK FAIR- Thank you My personal thanks to our community for the outstanding support for our recent book fair. We sold close to $2500.00 worth of books which gave us a great opportunity to add additional resources to our library from a resulting commission SEMESTER TWO REPORTS Our teachers have been preparing the Semester Two Reports, which will be coming home at the end of Term 4. These reports represent a formative appraisal of your child’s learning and application to their studies across Semester Two, 2017. The student reports for this semester provide information to parents, which encompasses all six Key Learning Areas, as well as social and behavioural information. As with semester one, students will be provided with an overall assessment of achievement in the Key Learning Areas using a five-point scale, Basic, Working Towards, Sound, High and Outstanding, with the majority of students expected to be within the sound level of achievement for their stage of learning. Students are also provided an assessment ranking for their application in the Key Learning Areas and are indicated as Limited, Consistent and Outstanding. As always, you are encouraged to focus on the level of effort your child has made towards their progress and regard it as equally important as their level of achievement. KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS 2018 Enrol now for 2018. We have had a great response from the community and are growing as a school. As part of our wonderful learning community, you already know what a great place Bert Oldfield Public School is. If your child, or the child of someone you know, is turning 5 before 31st July 2018, they can enrol at Bert Oldfield Public School for 2018. Please collect an enrolment package from the front office and return it as soon as possible, as places are filling fast. Proof of age and residency status will be required.

Kindergarten Orientation It was a delight to meet our new Kindergarten students and their families over the last few weeks as we commenced and concluded our Kindergarten Orientation program for 2018 enrolling students. We have very strong Kindergarten numbers, and at this stage, we are expecting to form three Kindergarten classes. Our thanks to all the current and new families for ensuring that their child came to their interview as well as attending the three orientation days. We are very excited about our 2018 school year. Mr D. Perrott

2017 SCHOOL LEADERS - SPEECHES & VOTING On Monday 27th November, 14 of our current Year 5 students presented their School Leader speeches to their peers from Years 1 to 6. I would like to congratulate each candidate for the effort and delivery of their speeches. They demonstrated great courage and found a confident voice to inform the student body how they are prepared to serve as 2018 school leaders, if successful. I was very impressed with the quality of the speeches which made it a difficult choice for our voters. Votes will be tallied over the coming days and the 2018 School Leaders will be announced at Presentation Day (Thursday 7th December). Good luck to our candidates. My thanks to Mrs Woolley for her coordination of the leadership selection process. Mr Galloway Smith

STAFF CAR PARK A gentle reminder that parents and students are not to walk through, or park, in the staff car park area—this is a WH&S safety rule. We need to keep our children safe at all times so please enter and exit through the entry gate near the school sign when arriving at school, or the gates on Wall Park and Orana Avenue.
