The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the armed services of the U.S.

Generally, it is presented to it’s recipient by the President of the U.S. of America in the name of congress.

There are 3 very specific guidelines for receiving the medal.

The Medal of Honor could be awarded while…

1. Engaged in an action against an enemy of the U.S.

2. Engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force.

3. Serving with friendly forces engaged in armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the U.S. is not a belligerent party.

It was created on July 12, 1862 when president Abraham Lincoln signed it making it an official document.

He was a second lieutenant in for the U.S. Army in the Indian War Campaigns. At the Battle of Big Dry Fork, Arizona July 17, 1882, Cruse had earned his medal from his courageous acts. He gallantly charged hostile Indians, and with his carbine, compelled a party of them to keep under cover of their breastworks , thus being able to recover a severely wounded soldier.

Frank was a private in the U.S. Army, fighting the War with Spain. This took place at Santiago, Cuba on July 1, 1898. The reason for him receiving a Medal of Honor was that he gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the line while under heavy fire of the enemy.

Was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWI. He was recognized for his bravery shown near Eclisfontaine, France on Semptember 26, 1918.

After his company had withdrawn for a distance of 200 yards on a line with the units on its flanks, Sgt Katz learned about one of his comrades had been left wounded in an exposed position at the point from which the withdrawal had taken place.

Voluntarily crossing an area swept by heavy machine gun fire, he advanced to where the wounded lay and carried him to a place of safety.

DeGlopper has earned his medal while fighitng WWII at MerdentRover at la Fiere, France. He received his medal of honor for advancing with the platoon on June 9, 1944. He was a private in the 325th Glider Infantry, and 82d Airborne Division in the U.S. Army. He alone, had taken on a hoard of the German army and even with constant fire at himself, he managed to perservereand kill many of the enemies soldiers. He valiently gave his life for his country.

Agerholm was a private first class in the U.S. Marine Corps in the war of the Pacific during WWII. He received his medal for fighting against Japanese forces on July 7, 1944. He immediately volunteered to assist in the efforts to check the hostile attack and evacuate our wounded. Under heavy rifle and mortar fire, he single-handedly loaded and evacuated approximately 45 casualties. Despite enemy fire, he ran out to aid 2 men in the marines and was mortally wounded. He gallantly gave his life for his country.
