Hungarian National Rural Network

Mission:

To organize a network of all stakeholders interested in rural development - governmental - local government and civil contributors - business and social organizations etc.

Helping the countryside to develope; announcing special programmes on different, related topics in cooperation with partners

„Grab(b)-it!”- small livestock breeding working program

Traditions:-Breeding for export – the third largest exporter in Europe

-96-97% for export

-The consumption of rabbit meat is extremely low-Own breeding rabbit meat consumption is higher

-Social reasons

-For disadvantaged, impoverished regions- For families living in difficult conditions- Job creation in rural areas- 5 female rabbits and 1 male for a family- Theorethical and practical trainings- Diversification of activities- To strenghten the village cumminities- Maintaining of rural populations

Results can be:-Good option for the prototype canteen program, or for the public work program-To boost the revival of rabbit breeding traditions-Self-sufficiency-An increase in the rabbit-meat consumption-Popularisation of the rabbit-gastronomy and healthy diet-Resolution for the problems of livelihood-Part, or full time jobs for families in disadvantaged situation

In 2011 – 235 municipalities and 4282 families applied

45% from Baranya, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties

– the highest unemployment rate
