Ski blades tend to wear easily, but the appropriate tools can be used to restore them to perfect condition.

The machines used in ski workshops are essential to file the skis, give a pattern to the sole, sharpen the sides of the blades or tune the skis, but if our skis have to be machined too often, our blades will wear away over the season – not to mention the expense involved.

So here we have a little kit that allows us to maintain the work of the ski workshop easily and cheaply. First of all, we need a vice to keep the ski firmly in place while we are working on it, a series of diamond files with a variety of grain sizes, and a file guide with a set angle.

Skiing has changed a great deal in recent years: there are monocoque skis without edges and others with inclined radial edges, and all of them are shaped in such a way that makes it difficult for them to be held in place in a traditional-type vice.
