Press Release

November 1-4, the best of Olympic Boxing will be on show in Sydney when Boxing Australia (NSW) hosts the Nationals and Commonwealth Games Trials.

NSW is fielding a team with A & B fighters in almost every weight class but there are some to es-pecially watch out for.

Kaye Scott (North Shore) was the first Australian ever, male or female, to win a silver medal at the World Championships, doing so in 2016. Kaye has now dropped an incredible two weight divi-sions from light heavyweight 81kg to welterweight 69kg and has recently won a prestigious inter-national tournament at that weight.

Sam Goodman (The Shire) recently competed at the World Championships and is the current 56kg champion.

Tim Hannan (Eastern Suburbs) is the most explosive fighter at 81kg and came runner up to the current Australian 81kg champion, Clay Waterman from Queensland, in a recent ESPN televised tournament.

November 1-4 is not to be missed.

Boxing Australia NSW Executive Committee

If you have contacts in mainstream media TV/Radio?print or even local please make contact with them.

Support the Troops ! The last time NSW held Nationals was 2008 I was there at Blacktown. So this event doesn’t come around very often. It is expensive to run and will put a serious dent in Boxing NSW reserves . It’s worth it for the home town advantage of course but only if we have lots of local support to go with it.

So please come down yourself but also tell your family , friends , work colleagues , neighbor's dog basically anyone who will listen.

Ticket prices are dead cheap and you are being treated to the best boxing in Australia.

This has been a big effort by the team at Boxing NSW and especially Tammy Sheridan our ex-traordinarily capable executive officer.

Please make all our Interstate fighters, coaches and supporters feel welcome and keep the cheering in the spirit of Olympic competition.

Not every decision will be to your liking and because of cuts or injuries there may be some dis-appointing retirements.

As we all say that’s Boxing and why we love it and hate it at the same time.

Please come to the greatest show in town !

Because we can ! One of the advantages of having nationals in Sydney this time is that we can have a massive coaching team without adding to the costs travel and accommodation so we have assembled the most impres-sive lineup of ex-champions and A-grade coaches which have made the training days even more memorable for the competitors. Very quickly egos have been cast aside and coaches advising each others charges without prejudice. Great work Jamie Pittman for leading from the front.
