What is Aktion Club?

Aktion Club is a community-service volunteer group for adults living with disabilities.

In partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Northmount, Aktion Club of Calgary provides opportunities for adults with disabilities to develop initiative and leadership skills, serve their community, integrate into society, and demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens living with disabilities.

Aktion Club activities have involved serving dinner at the Calgary Drop-In Centre, volunteering for the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign, volunteering at Father Lacombe Care Centre, fundraising for various groups and many others.

Benefits: Aktion Club members can benefit in many ways from service and recreational events. It is these activities that enable them to: • Participate in the active life of the community • Embrace an opportunity to contribute to the community • Develop social, creative, and intellectual skills • Improve self-esteem • Develop leadership skills • Achieve personal and collective service goals

Our Aktion Club needs more members and we would like to start a club in the northwest as well. Currently we meet once a month on Monday evenings at the Between Friends office #205, 8989 Macleod Trail S.
