1 Dear Members, We are already past the half-way mark of 2012 and the rains have started their annual hide and seek routine. Let us hope the Rain Gods will be kind so we have enough water next year. MINOR CHILDREN’S PLAN Members who have applied for their Children’s Membership under Minor Children’s Plan are once again requested to make half yearly payments on time, every January and July. Members who have currently applied for their Children in the age group of 10 – 21 years are required to pay their next instalment in the month of July 2012. The instalment for July may be paid on any working day between July 01st and 31st, 2012. Timings for payment are MON-FRI 10 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. (except 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.) and on Sat 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 Noon. Please note no individual reminder notices are being mailed for this purpose. The Special Mini Bumper Housie is held on the third Sunday of every month. There will be a special Snowball of Rs.10,000/- starting from 54 calls in the first game. In every subsequent game, the Snowball count will be reduced by one. For the last game, there will be no Snowball, but prizes will be disbursed on the basis of collections. NEW! HOUSIE COMPETITION TO BE PLAYED IN PAIRS… A special Housie Competition has been arranged on Sunday, 29th July, 2012. Two players would make a team and apart from regular prizes, points will be awarded as per the Tournament Housie format. The Winning Pair will be given an additional prize amount of Rs.2,000/- and the Runner-up Pair Rs.1,000/-. The Competition is open to Members only. NO GUESTS please. MINOR CHILDREN’S PLAN

Members who have applied for their Children’s Membership under Minor Children’s Plan are once again requested to make half yearly payments on time, every January and July.

The usual Housie Sessions continue every Sunday and on Bank Holidays 10.30 am onwards with a regular Snowball of Rs.5,000/- in all the games. The Special Mini Bumper Housie is held on the third Sunday of every month. There will be a special Snowball of Rs.10,000/- starting from 54 calls in the first game. In every subsequent game, the Snowball count will be reduced by one. For the last game, there will be no Snowball, but prizes will be disbursed on the basis of collections.

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

A gentle reminder regarding guest rules.

There are now only three Entry Points for introducing Guests at the Club.

Main Entrance / Lobby,

Near Coffee Shop and

Entrance through Car Parking area (near the Family Room).

It is mandatory to enter the full names of guests both, in the Register and on the guest slip. Guests must be signed in at any of the Club’s Entry Points and Guest pass collected. This Guest Pass must be shown at other venues of the Club where separate charges may apply for introducing / entertaining guests, be it the Wet Wicket Bar or Sports Sections.

No guest will be permitted to enter / utilize the Club facilities if he/she is not in possession of the valid Guest Pass issued at the Entry point.

On the days when the Wet Wicket Bar / any other facility is open beyond 11.30 pm, guests are to be introduced ONLY at the Main Entrance / Lobby after 11 pm and the Guest Pass obtained, as the other two Entry points may not be manned at that time.

The number of guests being introduced by each member at any part of the Club including the Wet Wicket Bar, should not exceed ‘SIX’

The total number of people at a table may not exceed ‘EIGHT’;

The maximum tables that can be joined together, will be two tables of four persons each.

Members are informed that the same guest cannot be introduced at the Club more than four times in a month either by the same or different members.

Only a Member or his Spouse may introduce a guest. The dependant member (Child) cannot introduce a guest.

Members must be in possession of valid membership cards on entering and whilst on Club premises. The Membership card is required to be produced whenever requested by the Duty Staff.

Members are requested to co-operate with the Duty Staff entrusted with the responsibility to check membership cards / guest passes.

Failure to comply with the Club rules will invite disciplinary measures as approved by the Executive Committee.

LEAVING ITEMS AT THE CLUB FOR SAFE KEEPING.

Members are advised not to hand over any bag or article containing high value items or cash to the Reception staff for temporary safekeeping or for any other purpose. This facility is only a matter of courtesy.

All reasonable precautions are taken to ensure safety of the members’ belongings. However, the Club will not be in a position to take any responsibility for the loss of any valuables or any article claimed to be missing from the baggage handed over to the Reception Staff.

The same rule applies for keeping items in Lockers allotted to Members. No valuables should be kept in any Locker.

ADDITIONAL MEMBERS’ LOUNGE

Members are informed that during the Monsoon period when seating on the Lawns is not possible and the Verandahs are crowded, additional service will be provided at the Cooch Behar Room from 11 am to 7 pm, if there is no previous booking.

DRIVING ETIQUETTEMembers are requested not to honk as they drive into the Club. Likewise, they are requested to restrain their Chauffeurs from doing so and also to instruct them to refrain from driving away at speed, after dropping off people at the Club Main Entrance.Loud impatient honking and speeding away is being discourteous to fellow Members and may end up startling Senior Citizen Members.

FOOD CORNER

BAKERY COUNTER

Bread Loaves are prepared in the Bakery twice a day.

Members are hereby informed that Bread Loaves will be available for sale from 7.00 a.m. at the Verandah till stocks last.

Loaves may be available at the Cake-Walk when it opens at 10.30 am, in the evenings up to 9.00 p.m. at the Cake-Walk and

from 9.00 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. at the Verandah subject to availability of stock.

ALFRESCO RESTAURANT

Due to the onset of monsoons and levelling of the cricket ground, the Alfresco Restaurant will not be operational till further notice.

MUTHUSWAMY’S SOUTH INDIAN DINNER

Muthuswamy’s South Indian food will also, not be available till further notice.

FREE EYE CHECK-UP CAMP

A Free Eye Check-up Camp has been organized for Members on 10th and 11th July 2012 at the C. K. Nayudu Banquet Hall.

Lawrence & Mayo have offered their expertise for the Camp.

Timings: Members: 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and

05.30 pm to 8.00 pm

Registrations will be done on a first come first served basis on 10th and 11th July at the venue.

ESTEE LAUDER WORKSHOP

An exclusive, free inter-active workshop for Lady Members has been organized on Saturday, 28th July 2012 at the C. K. Nayudu Hall between 3-5 pm.

Look forward to live demonstrations on the lucky four ladies who will get make-overs by their trained staff to give you four exciting looks viz Natural, Dramatic, Romantic and Sensuous! There will be tips on makeup application, skincare and fragrances. All this and complimentary too!

Members are requested to register their names early to avoid disappointment due to space constraints.

Further details will shortly be up on the Notice Boards.

ZUMBA CLASSES

The popular Zumba classes conducted by Jignya Mehta are now full up. Members who wish to join now, are requested to register their names on waitlist basis, with Ms. Silloo Medhora or Ms. Nergish Patel at the Office.

SPORTS ACTIVITY

BADMINTON

CCI–GMBA Mumbai District Badminton Tournament was held at CCI Badminton Courts from 25th to 30th June 2012. Approximately 450 entries were received for the tournament.

The Prize Distribution Function held at C.K. Nayudu Hall on 30th June 2012 was well attended by past and present Badminton players and officials.

CCI Teams participated in the recently held Motiram Cup at Matunga Gymkhana.

CCI Juniors/Ladies’ teams were the Semi-Finalists in their groups.

SWIMMINGCCI Swimmers shine!

Based on their performances at the Mumbai District Junior Swim Meet, Parantap and Radhika Mahadevia qualified to represent Mumbai at the Maharashtra State Junior Aquatic Championships in Pune in June 2012.

At the State Meet in Pune, Radhika Won a Bronze Medal in the 200 meters Backstroke for the Mumbai Team.

Well done Radhika, we are proud of you,

New batches of Swimming Coaching for beginners and pre-advance conducted by Mr. Nirav Vora and Mr. Vispy Bhesania have had a huge response.

All three batches for beginners of Mr. Nirav Vora are full.

BILLIARDS AND SNOOKER

Our Playing Member Hasan Badami has finished as India No.2 in the recently concluded National 6 Red Ball Snooker Championship held at the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana.

Well done Hasan. Keep it up.

CCI Billiard teams will participate in Mumbai Billiards League 2012 commencing from the week beginning 9th July 2012.

We wish the CCI teams the Best of Luck.

TABLE TENNIS

A fresh batch of Table Tennis coaching for Members and children conducted by Kedar Kasbekar will commence from 1st August to 31st October 2012 at the Table Tennis Room.

Each event is subject to a minimum of 6 entries failing which the competitor will have to play in the next higher age category in the Junior events and the lower age category in the Masters event.

Entry Forms are available in the Office between 11.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Last date to receive entries will be 19th July 2012.

The Table Tennis Sub-Committee is planning to hold an Inter Department Table Tennis Tournament from 31st July to 3rd August 2012. Modalities of the tournament are being worked out.

SQUASHMr. Satinder Bajwa – Chief Coach of CCI-Bajwa Squash Academy was at the CCI Squash Courts from 20th June to 27th June 2012. Students from the Academy benefited from a host of useful tips from Mr. Bajwa.

ILA DALAL’S DANCE ACADEMY

Ila Dalal’s Dance Academy Classes are being held every Saturday at the Yoga Room.

Timings : ( I Batch) 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

( II Batch) 5.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

(III Batch) 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. (for Senior Citizens).

Charges Rs.150/- per turn. Forms available at the Office and at the Yoga Room.

HEALTH CLUB NEWSOUTDOOR REVITALIZER PROGRAMMEA new Scheme of Personal Physical Fitness Training Programme has been launched for Members. The Fitness Programme will be conducted by Fitness Trainers - Mr. Sanket Salvi and Mr. Vikas Mandal.

INTRODUCTION OF MONTHLY HEALTH CLUB MEMBERSHIPA Monthly Membership for the Health Club at Rs.1,500/- plus Service Tax can now be availed besides the existing 6 Monthly and 1 Year Membership. The terms and procedures remain the sameOnly individual Members may opt for the One Month Membership.

TRAINING FOR MUMBAI MARATHON – 2013

Training for the Mumbai Marathon 2013 from Jul to Dec 2012, can be availed under Mr. Sanket Salvi and his two assistants. Sessions will be from 6.30 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. Mr. Sanket Salvi can be directly contacted on the Grounds.There will be a monthly fee of Rs.1,000/- plus Service Tax per month with a minimum commitment of 3 months.
