Lydia Ko is a Korean born New Zealand professional golfer who became the No. 1 ranked woman professional golfer on 2 February 2015 at 17 years of age. This made her the youngest player of either sex to be ranked No. 1 in professional golf. She is also the youngest player to win a major championship.

This biography traces Lydia's life and the many unique influences that have shaped her into the top-class golfer she is today. When she was six years old she moved to New Zealand from Korea. Her parents nurtured her golf and she was instructed by a young coach that instilled in Lydia a fun-loving approach to life.

This book will be published on 3rd October 2016 and available for our clients in DAISY format from that date.

Assisted voting for the Auckland Local Council ElectionsThe local elections for the city and district councils, regional councils and District Health Boards are being held on 8 October 2016. Auckland Council has been working with the Blind Foundation to make the Auckland local elections more accessible.

Auckland Council has provided candidate information (including biographies) to the Blind Foundation, which is available on TIS and on DAISY CD.

To access the assisted voting registration process Blind Foundation clients will first need to register. Clients should call Independent Election Services 0800 922 822 to register their interest and then Auckland Council will call them back to arrange a time for a volunteer to visit.

To undertake assisted voting clients who need it will be able to call a number and a volunteer will be sent to their house to give them full assistance. The volunteer will be fully trained as an electoral official. This includes a volunteer picking up the vote if the client can't make it to the mailbox.

Week of 16th-21st September: Voting packs arrive

Wednesday 5th October: Postal votes must be in the mail

Saturday 8th October midday: Voting ends, voting papers need to be in ballot boxes.

DAISY Player upgradeIf you have a Blind Foundation issued DAISY player, you will, or already have received a software upgrade. The upgrade is included each time you receive a CD from us. Your player automatically processes the update when you load the CD. The update will only happen once, no matter how many discs it is on. The update will solve problems some members have had with RNIB titles not playing and the player will now read out to you the number of books or magazines on your disc. There is one issue with your upgrade. It will delete all saved information. We suggest you either make a note of any saved books, or, save the information onto an external drive.

You don't need to do anything special for the update. The player will detect the update file on the disc and will announce it is updating. The update will take 15-16 minutes, after this, the player will announce that the upgrade is successful and eject the disc. Please insert the disc again to listen to your books or magazines.

If you still have a problem with your player, please contact us on 0800 24 33 33.
